On April 14th the province of Ontario passed an extension of Emergency Measures Act until May 12th. Leisure Time, along with all other seasonal campgrounds in the province, must remain closed to overnight & seasonal campers until at least then. After a great deal of lobbying by many people, on April 17th the province did make a change to the Essential Services List. Seasonal campgrounds must still remain closed until at least May 12th but the province is going to make an exce...ption for people under very specific circumstances to stay at campgrounds that are willing to allow them in. The campground has to remain closed and allow only people who have applied & received authorization using the following criteria campsites are provided only to individuals who do not have another residence in Canada and are in need of housing during the emergency period. For people who receive authorization there will be very strict safety measures put in place. Leisure Time is zoned commercial tourism & is not allowed to be considered a permanent residence but because of the Covid-19 pandemic the province has agreed to make a temporary exemption for our campers that meet the criteria. For all of Leisure Time’s seasonal, overnight & storage campers we continue our regular maintenance of the facilities & have managed to accomplish a number of upgrades to the campground since last fall. SEASONAL CAMPGROUND REQUIREMENTS Every person who operates a seasonal campground shall ensure that, a) campsites are provided only to individuals who do not have another residence in Canada and are in need of housing during the emergency period; b) only campsites with electricity, water service and facilities for sewage disposal are provided for use; c) campsites are made available only for trailers and recreational vehicles; and d) all recreational facilities in the campground, and all other shared facilities in the campground such as bathrooms, are closed.
