There is always a great story behind a photo. This one is from Rocky Mountain National Park. "At 12,000' with the air being so thin, loss of engine power was not a problem with the Mercedes Turbo Diesel, revealing sufficient power to climb the steep pass when nursing the tranny to keep up the revs. Rarely was there a line of cars in my rearview mirror going up to the pass. After the 1st week on the road, the mind switches from the routines of work and home finds space for cre...ative ideas, new experiences, the curious mind finds time to switch gears and wander down that side road or check out a new town. The pleasure lies in stumbling upon that hot springs for a break, finding that wilderness campsite by the river without another soul or RV in sight, losing normal routines to the open road. "Whenever we have the chance, we travel the world to play golf and recently bought our Leisure Travel Van so we could travel North America Leisurely and play golf without airports and security and the crowds. This picture is 1,453 miles from our home in La Jolla California and was taken at the Prairie Club in Nebraska. The goal was a 'Midwest golf swing' meet up (complete with logo golf balls and coffee cups) for fellow golf trekkers from California, Germany, and Illinois. In... the summer of 2016, we met in the sandhills of Nebraska at the world-renowned Prairie Club Golf Course. As seen in this picture, Our Leisure Travel Van is outfitted with a Blue Ox tow hitch and a companion Ford Focus. The LTV's powerful diesel engine towed our Focus and all our golf gear up and over the Rocky Mountains at 60-65 miles per hour averaging about 15 miles per gallon. We also travel with our poochie-poo because we can leave him in the cozy climate-controlled interior at any time of year or weather condition. "Travelling north from Flagstaff to Kanab, UT you will be driving along the Navajo Trail (AZ-89) and will have the option to take a westerly track on AZ-89A (Fredonia-Vermillion Cliffs Scenic Rd). This scenic by-way offers very interesting views and includes crossing the Colorado River over the new Navajo Bridge. The Navajo Bridge Interpretive Centre is an amazing stop which has a visitors center at the west end and First Nations Craft tables at the east end. The old bridge s...till stands and is now a pedestrian walkway for you to cross the Colorado River on foot. Once you have visited the Interpretation Centre, heading west on AZ-89A, you will come upon a spectacular area of scattered large red boulders and cliff formations.
