OTTAWA FIRE SERVICES NEWS RELEASE DATE: March 29, 2021 SUBJECT: Working Fire on Flat Sedge Cres between White Alder Ave & Buttonbush Way ORIGINATOR: Communications Division Dispatch... RELEASE: For Immediate Release District 3 - Station 32 - Ward 10 Gloucester-Southgate Ottawa Fire Services received a single 911 from the occupant of a four door row house reporting a fire in the bedroom on the second floor. A working fire was declared at 2:05am. Crews quickly knocked down the fire and began overhaul operations checking for extension. The fire was declared under control at 2:20. A loss stopped was declared at 2:56. A patient is in the care of the Ottawa Paramedic Service. An Ottawa Fire Investigator has been dispatched to the scene to determine the cause. Questions pertaining to the measures taken to secure the scene, extinguish the fire and investigations can be directed to the Ottawa Fire Services. Questions pertaining to patient care can be directed to the Ottawa Paramedic Service. We would like to thank the following agencies who collaborated with us to manage this incident: Ottawa Paramedic Service Enbridge Ottawa Police Service Ottawa Hydro . Our work together is based on trust, cooperation and a group commitment to service excellence and safety. Call 9-1-1 as soon as it is safe to do so. Remember, you are our eyes and ears to the emergency. Our Dispatch staff will ask questions to help best locate the incident and assess the conditions surrounding the emergency. We encourage you to remain calm, answer the Dispatcher's questions and to stay on the line until advised to hang up. Smoke is toxic. If you must escape through smoke, get low and go under the smoke to your way out. If you can safely evacuate please close all doors behind you to prevent the spread of smoke and fire. Oxygen fuels fires so closing doors can help stop its growth. Also, closed doors offer additional protection from smoke or heat damage. See more

We would like to thank all those who supported our Leitrim Saint -Patrick’s day fundraiser for Rotary Home. With your support we sold 75 shirts and presented a cheque in the amount of $675 today. This could not have happened without all of your support. ... OTTAWA FIRE SERVICES NEWS RELEASE DATE: March 08, 2021 SUBJECT: Working Fire on Merivale Rd between Fallowfield Rd and Boycrest Rd ORIGINATOR: Communications Division Dispatch... RELEASE: For Immediate Release District 3 - Station 37 - Ward 9 Knoxdale-Merivale At 23:08, Ottawa Fire Services received multiple 911 calls reporting a garage on fire. A working fire was declared when information received indicated flames showing from the roof of the structure. Fire crews made entry into the single family bungalow, where fire had spread from the garage into the attic. A Firewatch has been established on the home. The fire was declared under control at 23:02. A loss stopped was declared at 23:28. There are no reported injuries at this time. An Ottawa Fire Investigator is currently on scene to determine the cause. The Canadian Red Cross and the Salvation Army will both be assisting those affected by this incident. OTTAWA FIRE SERVICES MEDIA RELEASE DATE: Wednesday February 10, 2020 SUBJECT: Small Plane crash south of the Carp Airport CONTACT: Carson Tharris, PIO Phone: 613-913-2812... RELEASE: For Immediate Release District 6 Station 64 Ward 5 West Carleton-March Ottawa Fire Services (OFS) was notified at 1:05pm that a small plane had crashed near the Carp Airport. Firefighters arrived on location at 1:14pm and identified smoke coming from a wooded area south of the airport. Firefighters searched the area along with our colleagues at the Ottawa Police Service and the Ottawa Paramedic Service. The plane was located in a forested area south of the runway. Firefighters used portable extinguishers to bring the fire under control before setting up a hoseline into the forest to fully extinguish the blaze. Any information about the plane, the cause of the crash, or the occupant(s) should be directed to the Transportation Safety Board. We would like to thank the following agencies who collaborated with us to manage this incident: Ottawa Police Service, Ottawa Paramedic Service, Carp Airport. From Ottawa Fire Twitter : Firefighters located the small plane in a wooded area south of the airport. The plane was on fire and crews used portable extinguishers to bring the fire under control before stretching a hose line into the woods to fully extinguish the fire.

OTTAWA FIRE SERVICES MEDIA RELEASE DATE: Monday December 7, 2020 SUBJECT: Fire in residential high rise at 229 Argyle Avenue, Firefighters remove unconscious occupant... CONTACT: Carson Tharris, PIO Phone: 613-913-2812 RELEASE: For Immediate Release District 1 Station 12 Ward 14 Somerset Ottawa Fire Services received a 911 call at 5:26pm reporting smoke in the hallway and alarms sounding in a residential high rise at 229 Argyle Avenue. Firefighters arrived on location at 5:29pm and encountered smoke in the hallways of the building. Firefighters made their way to the 2nd floor of the building where they found the smoke coming from one of the apartments. Firefighters entered the unit and encountered heavy smoke filling the entire apartment. Firefighters began searching through the smoke-filled unit while another crew attacked the fire and ventilated the smoke out through the windows. Firefighters located one unresponsive adult male in the apartment. Firefighters began providing CPR and transported the patient outside where care was transferred to the Ottawa Paramedic Service. Inside the apartment Firefighters continued searching to confirm there were no other occupants in the unit, extinguishing the remaining fire, and ventilating the smoke from the unit. The fire was declared under control at 5:40pm. Firefighters continued ventilating smoke from the unit and hallways before declaring a loss stopped at 5:46pm. The damage was contained to the single unit and an Ottawa Fire Services Investigator is en route to investigate the Origins and Cause of the Fire, the provincial Office of the Fire Marshall will also be notified. SUBJECT: Firefighters rescue occupant from apartment fire 3530 Downpatrick CONTACT: Carson Tharris, PIO Phone: 613-913-2812 RELEASE: For Immediate Release District 3 Station 33 Ward 10 Gloucester Southgate Ottawa Fire Services (OFS) received a 911 call at 7:32am reporting a fire in an apartment at the rear of this 3 storey apartment complex. Subsequent calls advised someone was trapped by the blaze in the second floor apartment. Firefighters arrived on scene at 7:36am and rapidly extinguished the flames through a rear window. Neighbours reported 2 adults and 2 children may still be in the unit and Firefighters used ladders to enter the 2nd storey window to search the apartment for the resident who was reported trapped. Firefighters rescued 1 adult from the unit and evacuated them before transferring care to the Ottawa Paramedic Service. The 2nd adult and 2 children from the apartment were located outside where they had evacuated on their own. All four occupants, as well as 2 neighbours who were exposed to smoke in the hallway were treated by Paramedics. Firefighters ensured the fire in the apartment was fully extinguished and checked neighbouring units for extensions into the walls and ceiling before ventilating all the remaining smoke from the building, a loss stopped was declared at 8:24am. The occupants of the apartment and the unit directly below will be displaced by the fire, an Ottawa Fire Services investigator is on route to determine the origins of the fire. Décès d'un pompier de Laval C'est avec une immense tristesse que l’Association des pompiers de Laval a appris la perte d’un de ses membres. Langis Villeneu...ve, pompier à la caserne 9, est décédé ce matin, suite à un combat colossal contre un cancer relié à notre profession. Cet homme de famille aimant, était respecté comme pompier et réputé comme serviteur de la communauté. Un collègue, un ami, un père. Tout les membres de l’Association des pompiers de Laval sont fière d'avoir servi avec lui. Nous voulons offrir à sa famille et ses proches, toute nos sincères condoléances. Repose en paix et veille sur nous tous! Dans nos cœurs et nos esprits pour toujours! On se revoit au dernier étage frère... Tous les pompiers de Laval portent fièrement un autocollant 249 sur leurs casques, matricule de notre confrère Langis.

SUBJECT: Firefighters rapidly extinguish fire on the balcony at 1421 Forge Street CONTACT: Carson Tharris, PIO Phone: 613-913-2812 RELEASE: For Immediate Release -District 3 Station 33 Ward 10 Gloucester -Southgate At 1:36 pm Ottawa Fire Services received a 911 call from the homeowners advising that they could see smoke coming from the porch of their home. Firefighters arrived and rapidly located burning roofing materials that had spread to the structure of the porch. Workers had been working on the roof and had left for the day. The fire was extinguished before it spread to the structure of the home. Firefighters have ventilated all of the smoke from the structure and allowed the residents to return to their home.

OTTAWA FIRE SERVICES NEWS RELEASE DATE: September 16, 2020 SUBJECT: MVC Extrication at 950 River Rd ORIGINATOR: Communications Division Dispatch... RELEASE: For Immediate Release District 3 - Station 37 - Ward 20 Osgoode Fire fighters received notification at 00:39 that there was a single vehicle accident in front of 950 River Rd just north of Manotick. On route, our partners at Ottawa Police Services called to update that the single occupant of the vehicle was trapped. Additional specialized heavy rescue equipment was added to the call in addition to the vehicles that were already on route. On arrival, a man was confirmed to be trapped in his vehicle which was in the ditch and needed to be extricated. The first crew was able to pry open the passenger door and assess the occupant before assisting him to exit the car. Questions pertaining to the measures taken to secure the scene, extricate persons and clear debris can be directed to the Ottawa Fire Services. Questions pertaining to patient care can be directed to the Ottawa Paramedic Service. Vehicles not involved in a collision are to yield to emergency vehicles trying to access the scene. If you are the first person at a motor vehicle incident, please approach the scene only if it is safe to do so. See more
