Are you in need of some robot-trained cows? Do you have robot-trained cows for sale? We often have a list of customers with quality, robot-trained animals for sale that we would be happy to share! To get your name on the list to either buy or sell, contact Wally Matheson at [email protected].
The LCW Low Point Drain Box is meant to be installed beside a twin filter. It uses the drain valve from the filter along with a level sensor built into the drain box. This way a customer can separate the exact amount of milk from his pipeline into a milk shuttle or drum. Want to add a Auto Low Point Drain to you farm? Contact Marlene Wikkerink at [email protected] or 519- 608-2886 for more details!

From the FMS Desk: Individual Animal Milk Fat and Protein Individual animal fat and protein indications are available as an average of the last 5 milkings. The ratio of Fat to Protein is an important indicator of cow health; with a ratio > 1.5 cows may be suffering from ketosis and with a ratio < 1 they may be suffering from ruminal acidosis. This is shown in the report Milking - Fat Protein Ratio in T4C.... #lelycenterwoodstock #FMS #T4C #livelifelely
The Lely Center Woodstock Hoof Sprayer is a preventative treatment that cleans the rear hooves of your cows for better hoof health. During the rinsing of the pre-treatment brushes, the hoof sprayer sprays water out of the two nozzles on the front of the hoof sprayer. The hose and nozzles are covered with a stainless steel plate for maximum protection. Can either spray just water, or a soap/chemical solution can be injected into the water stream... Compatible with both A4 and A5 Lely Astronaut milking robots Contact Marlene Wikkerink @ 519-608-2886 or [email protected] for more details.
‘Calves for a Cause’ is a fundraiser organized by Darryl & Sarah Markus from Ingersoll, ON to give back to the Children’s Hospital at London Health Sciences Centre. Below is a message from Darryl & Sarah Markus. On October 28th, 2019 our family welcomed Brooks into the world. Fifteen hours later he was rushed to the Children’s Hospital in London, Ontario with major complications. After months of testing Brooks was diagnosed with an incredibly rare disorder called Congenital... Central Hypoventilation Syndrome or CCHS. CCHS affects only about 1300 people worldwide. With his original four month stay and multiple admissions since, Brooks has spent approximately 180 days of his 1st year at the hospital. With the love and support Brooks and our family have received from the amazing professionals at the Children’s Hospital at London Health Sciences Centre we have decided to host our 1st Calves for a Cause sale. It is our mission to give back and help support families with sick children so that they may receive the same love, support and care we have. - Darryl & Sarah Markus, Markridge Holsteins & Jerseys For more information, or to learn how you can donate, please go their ‘Calves for a Cause’ Facebook page!

From the FMS Desk: Reducing Bimodality Series Part 3 of 4 Bimodalitywhat causes poor milk let-down?... Is poor milk let-down a problem on your dairy farm? There are several reasons why this could be. 1. Stimulation is insufficientmore brushing in the robot had shown to be a good investment on many farms. Every cow is different; some cows will start to let their milk down as soon as they step into the robot, while others need more brush contact time. Cows will also differ depending on stage of lactation, amount of milk in udder etc. 2. Time is insufficientoxytocin can take up to 2 minutes to travel from the pituitary gland to the udder. 3. Oxytocin is blocked/not producedoxytocin uptake in the udder is blocked by adrenaline, the hormone released due to pain or stress. Once released, oxytocin takes hours to regenerate in the pituitary gland, so the cow needs sufficient time to rebuild her oxytocin levels before her next milking. We have seen the benefits when all these points are considered to improve milk flow. Contact your FMS team at LCW to see if milking on your farm could be improved!
This past week LCW installed four HygieneBoxes at Hammond Farms. The HygieneBox enhances your Lely Calm by automatically completing full circulation cleanings several times a day, and by washing the teat after each feeding to ensure optimal health. #lelycalm #hygienebox

From the FMS Desk: Reducing Bimodality Series: Part 2 of 4 If 80% of milk in the udder is in the alveoli, what occurs if proper milk letdown isn’t achieved? (Bimodal milking)... The 20% of milk in the ducts and cistern can be harvested, but very quickly milk flow slows down and: 1. Teat end vacuum is higher than preferred. Teats with higher milk flow have about a 39-40 kPa average vacuum, but those with low milk flow may have a 44 kPa average. This can lead to teat end damage. 2. The liner mouth piece vacuum rises because the teat doesn’t fill the liner properly. This can lead to swelling and discomfort for the cow. Studies also show that bimodal milkings lead to reduced milk production. Other studies saw some herds with an extreme of up to 75% of milkings being bimodal, while in other herds no bimodal milkings could be found. Contact your FMS team at LCW to be assured your herd is having the best milking possible.
From the FMS desk: Reducing Bimodality Series: Part 1 of 4 Over the last few years we’ve been working with our customers to reduce the number of bimodal milkings on their farms. Reducing bimodality (delayed milk let down) is key for efficient and gentle milkings. Let’s look at the science behind it.... Milk is made in the alveoli (milk producing cells) and moves through the milk ducts to the udder and teat cisterns. Milk in the cisterns can be harvested by vacuum only but the milk in the alveoli requires Oxytocin. Oxytocin is released from the cow’s brain due to stimulation like a calf suckling or brushing. Did you know only 20% of the cow’s milk is stored in the cisterns and ducts? Without a proper Oxytocin release, proper milking cannot occur. If you have any questions, feel free to contact the LCW FMS team at any time!
TheHygieneBox enhances your Lely Calm by automatically completing full circulation cleanings several times per day, and by washing the teat after each feeding to ensure optimal health. #lelycalm #hygienebox
