Tonight is a special night. A night in which everyone gathers round and celebrates the lives of those passed, and present. A time to take a moment and be thankful for the life that we have and the many ways in which we can help those in need. ..... With the majority of orders out, I wanted to take this time to THANKYOU! The pictures above show just how amazing you all are, and with all the interest in this new brand, in just a few months you guys were able to raise over $1...000!!!! To some this is seen as a small goal, but to me, this is just the first step on a long journey To everyone who purchased a shirt or hoodie this is because of YOU, and to anyone who took the time to share a post or story.. it would not be possible without you either! May 7th 2014 - On this day Dora Alida Kemp (my aunt) was told that she had stage 4 of a very rare combination of myeloma and lymphoma Leukemia. She never really got to leave the hospital following that day. As many people know, treatment for any type of cancer is something that is not easy and can lead to quite a lot time feeling isolated and in many cases hopeless, but not my aunt. Although we knew she was having a rough time she didn't show it. ... It was through her chemotherapy treatment were LemonFace was unintentionally born. Friends, family, neighbours, strangers all took part in what we call the "lemon challenge". With a slice of lemon, you bite into it, and have someone take a picture of your reaction. These images would be sent to her weekly with the intentions to make her laugh and smile and hopefully make her time in the hospital just a little bit more of a positive experience. After 5 months of ups and downs her battle with leukemia came to an end on October 3rd 2014, one day before her 48th birthday. Dora was someone who was always positive teaching me and everyone around her to seize and enjoy every moment. My way of honouring my aunt is through this company. As a tribute to her passing away before her 48th birthday, 48% of all proceeds made through the selling of clothing and other merchandise will go directly to LLSC. Here, your donations will be used for the continuing research to find a cure, help patients in providing them comfort during treatment as well as supporting families who have to stand by and do what they can to take care of the people they love. This upcoming week the website will finally be complete. Once that is launched, orders can officially begin to placed! Starting a brand is something new to me and I am excited to see where this journey leads too but with this I appreciate all and any patience as I work continously to expand on this company!!
