It is with great regret that we announce that our President and friend, Jennifer Bunting has passed away. Jennifer was the beloved wife of Mark (deceased) and mother to Cleah and Peter Bunting. Since 2014 Jennifer had been the President of the Historical Society but she was known and respected for her work with Society and the L&A County Archives for many years before that. There will be a gathering of family and friends at James Reid Funeral Home, 1900 John Counter Blvd. on Saturday April 16th, 2-4 p.m. All are welcome! http://jrfuneral.webwoods.ca/obit.cfm

After consulting with the minority of the Historical Societies Executive, those who are not in or about to go into the hospital. The consensus is to not proceed with our Whiskey Tasting event at Macpherson House. This is the first time in more than 20 years that we have not held this event so this is not a decision we took lightly. We are not afraid of the hard work it would take to organize the event but we are very afraid of doing it badly. We just can not disappoint the people who have been so very generous with their support of this event in the past by having it anything less than great fun and this year we don't think we can pull that off. So we are going to regroup and recuperate and hold it next year, same time, same place. Thank you again for your support.
