Still need the last few signatures for the 100 consenting Ottawa South electors for Elections Canada. You need the link, a printer, a pen, a friend, and then either a scanner or your smartphone to send the scan or photo of your completed signature form.

One of the big challenges during this unpopular pandemic-threatened election is the need to gather 100 signatures on the nomination papers from electors in Ottawa South. Without clearing this hurdle, the Greens will not be able to have my name on the ballot and my would-be candidacy would end. We are making good progress on this goal every day, but need a big push to complete this effort now to be sure to meet the August 30th deadline. Please visit our Ottawa South Greens web...site to download a form that you can print yourself. You must sign the form in ink. A digital signature is not allowed. You must also have your signature witnessed by another adult. It is okay to have one person witness the signature of another member of their household/family. When your form is completed, please send the photo/scan to me at [email protected] and copy [email protected]. Thank you for your help and support! Les

Nominations have closed in Ottawa South. Time and location remain subject to change due to possible pandemic restrictions on the availability of City of Ottawa facilities. There is expected to be provision for members to join the meeting and online as well. Please share with your fellow Green Party members in Ottawa South and encourage them to register for the event on the Green Party of Canada website or our local site, http://osgreens.ca.

On October 31, the Keystone pipeline, completed in 2010, sprang a leak. The second leak in two years. While pipeline builders say that spills are unlikely, the evidence is against them. The Transmountain pipeline poses a significant risk to aquifers (drinking and irrigation waters), rivers, streams and salmon fisheries. The Liberals and Conservatives continue to support the Transmountain pipeline. One after the election the NDP dropped their opposition.... We urge the Liberals, Conservatives and NDP to rethink their support and join us in. Its time to put a stop to the Transmountain pipeline and ship solid bitumen by rail and truck as we drawdown tar sands production.

This is it! We don't have the deep pockets of the other parties. Can you help spread our positive message before people head to the polls?

CBC/Navius Research modelling of the Green Party climate plan shows that it will reduce emissions by close to 60 per cent by 2030. A future Canada that runs on renewable, carbon-free energy will help us back away from climate disaster while renewing our economy. Only the Greens have a plan that will lead us out of the climate emergency. https://www.greenparty.ca/en/platform

Leadership on the climate emergency includes building and supporting peace. The Greens’ commitment to building and sustaining peace globally includes expanding Canada’s peace-keeping role and strengthening post-conflict civil society and democratic institutions. Peace, peace-keeping and climate emergency go hand in hand in order to build a better world https://www.greenparty.ca/en/platform

The Green Party is committed to helping the workers through a just transition into new positions as the fossil fuel industry inevitably declines - income protection, jobs guarantees, retraining and resettlement are to be developed in partnership with unions. Only the Greens have a fully-costed and detailed plan to guide us through this complex transition. https://www.greenparty.ca/en/platform
