"I'm only covered once a year for a cleaning through my insurance." Yes and no this can be true. When your insurance covers you once every 12, 9 or 6 months for a cleaning, those are the frequencies allowed for an Exam, X-rays, polish and fluoride. The actual "cleaning" that we do is called scaling, when we use our tools to remove the build up from the teeth. Each plan has a certain amount of scaling units (15 minutes of scaling/unit) that is allowed to be used ANYTIME in a 1...2 month period. For example: If your insurance covers you once a year, and you have 12 units of scaling, and you use 3 units at your annual cleaning, you still have 9 units of scaling/cleaning left to use! Basically you could come every 4 months for a cleaning and not go over your scaling units. Always feel free to ask us any questions you have regarding insurance and how it works so that you can understand your plan.

"Can you use that stuff you used last time? You painted it on my teeth before you cleaned them, then they weren't sensitive!" Don't suffer through your cleanings. It feels great to be back to work. Thank you everyone who has come in over the past month and have been so kind and patient as Im adjusting to all the new protocols. If you have an upcoming appointment at Complete Dental Hygiene, here is what you can expect: * You'll have to ring the front doorbell to be let in * First thing upon entering is hand hygiene * Florence is working from home for now to limit contact between people, so the only person your in contact with is me (Wh...itney) * There are new Covid19 forms to be filled out and your temperature will be taken and recorded * Let me know if there is any changes to your home address, insurance or phone number (this step I sometimes miss) * We will review all medical and dental history and today's procedures up front * I'll go to the back and set up for the discussed treatment and don my PPE (cap, gown, face shield and all) * Youll have to swish the Colgate Peroxyl pre rinse for 60 seconds * During treatment, I may need some assistance with you holding the suction for me That's about it. I've prepped and made it so that Complete Dental Hygiene is still a quiet, safe, calm place to have your teeth cleaned. I'm only booking two or three patients (unless they are a family) a day to ensure they are well spread out. This allows our new air purifier to exchange the clinics air out over 5 times between each patient. If you know someone who is higher risk they can always request to be the only patient of the day and I can find a place in the schedule to make that happen. I've missed everyone's smiles and I'm happy to be back at work. I want to make sure all my patients are happy and comfortable also. Well this is some exciting news. We are waiting to hear from our college on the guidelines to implement prior to opening. We are going to ensure to take all possible measures to protect our patients and ourselves. We will keep you posted on any changes. Infection control, PPE(personal protective equipment), hand hygiene, gloves, masks, N95, sanitizer, respirator These are all, terms that we have been hearing these days. At Complete Dental Hygiene, we have always been experts in infection control.... As for cleanings, currently, we have not yet resumed regular practice. We are staying current, up to date, and establishing new protocols for once we open up again. Once we do reopen though, we will continue to provide and protect our patients with the most resent and up to date standards. And we will not open until we are fully equipped to do so. In the mean time, we appreciate all support and patience. If you have any questions, or concerns, please, call, text, or email. Nothing is too big or small.. Inflamed gum? Maybe a popcorn kernal, or piece of steak... I can help you get that out! Weird taste in your mouth? Maybe your tongue is coated and you need a proper tongue scraper.. perhaps an ulcer, or tonsil stone, or another underlying issue. Cant get a clean feeling on your teeth to last? Your probably due for a cleaning Does flossing make your gums bleed or feel itchy?? Any amount (even small) can make youre gums bleed. If you keep at it, your gums will toughen up and start to enjoy being flossed, instead of dread it... Lets TALK oral! Any of those questions that you have but forget to ask when your in the chair.. ask me!

Key points about tooth decay in children It can lead to holes in the teeth called cavities. Tooth decay is caused by bacteria in the mouth. These bacteria make a sticky substance called plaque that can eat away at a tooth's enamel. Poor oral hygiene can raise your child's risk for tooth decay.

Sometimes were tested not to show our weaknesses, but to discover our strengths.

Due to our colleges recommendations of suspending all nonessential dental services, CDH is temporarily shut down. All appointments this week have been cancelled. Tooth polishing doesnt just have a cosmetic benefit for your teeth. This procedure, when paired with dental scaling, can freshen your breath and help prevent bacteria from sticking to your tooth surfaces.

Regular, thorough brushing is a very important step to remove bacteria that causes tooth decay and gum disease. Ideally, you should brush after every meal, because the bacterial attack on teeth begins minutes after eating. At the very least, brush twice a day and always before you go to bed. BRUSH BRUSH BRUSH
