Late one wintry night, Douglass Haitner reminisces on his life and the meeting of his true love, his memories twisting and devolving, fighting to maintain his romantic vision in a dark world. Rationale is currently playing well on the festival circuit, having played been selected for 8 international film festivals, including being officially selected just today for the Red Wood Film Festival, and winning Best Suspense-Thriller Short from the AltFF Alternative Film Festival. Rationale has many more festivals on the horizon and has been tremendously well received, with a fantastic lead performance from Douglas MacArthur, and its the last short film available as part of the 3-film and 5-film download perk categories for Aperture.

GIRAF16 CONTEST ALERT: We are thrilled with the response to our online GIRAF festival of independent animation (https://giraffest.ca). People have been incredib...ly supportive and enthusiastic, telling us how much they love this year's programming and how glad they are to still be able to watch, even from their own homes. As thrilled as we are, as we go into the last weekend of GIRAF16, we also have a small request. Even though the fest is available across Alberta, we've only had a handful of folks outside Calgary take part. We've tried our best to spread the word, but we need your help. Here's the contest: Reply to this post and tag a friend who lives anywhere in Alberta other than Calgary. On Friday afternoon, we'll draw two random names from that list and give them a free pass to this year's fest. With four days left to watch and 15+ hours of animated shorts, features and artist talks, there's still plenty of time to put those passes to good use. So... who do you want to share it with? Do you have a Christmas or other December holiday short film? We would love to see it!! We are having to move our usual Christmas event ONLINE...and so are havi...ng to change that event as showing a Christmas classic just doesn't seem as much fun online. So we are adding a Christmas Short Film Festival (something we have wanted to do before but have not had the space for before). Introducing the Bite-Size Okotoks Christmas Film Festival. We will have a Film Freeway Submissions page shortly, but as the turn around is VERY SHORT for this festival (we will announce selections in the first week of December) we thought we would get some feelers out while we wait for Film Freeway to approve our page. The festival will be online on December 23rd (7PM) One screening and a Q&A. Here’s one of our favourites from the Environment Lethbridge Wasteless Campaign. This one was shot by president Danielle Wintrip and Directed by our VP Nick Bohle. Michael Bartz wrote and created the scripts. Many LIFS volunteers lent their hands to this one and we had a great result. What do you think?
