As the clock runs out on 2020 in just a few short hours, don't miss your chance to start 2021 with a $ windfall! Our raffle ends at midnight tonight. Current take-home is $1,175, but that could jump up to $2,500 if we sell out. Tickets are quick and easy to purchase online, all that's required is that you be a resident of Alberta aged 18 or older with a credit card.... Proceeds go to support speed skating in Southern Alberta.

For any members that have completed their Level 1 Officials course and are interested in becoming a Short Track Starter, please read below for details about an upcoming training session.

UPDATE: Upon receiving clarification on the guidelines announced last week, we are able to move forward with revised programming for the next two weeks. Members please look for an email later tonight with additional details. ********* Well friends, in compliance with last night's news about new Alberta Health Services targeted measures (https://www.alberta.ca/enhanced-public-health-measures.aspx) we are hitting the pause button on our season between November 13th and Novembe...r 27th. Be safe, remember to wear your masks and social distance, and keep your fingers crossed that we can resume skating on November 30th. Members, please watch your emails for further updates.

We are pleased to share that the Lethbridge Speed Skating Association has been selected by Canadian Tire Jumpstart to receive a grant from their Sport Relief Fund. The fund helps community sport organizations like ours continue to provide access to sport and play for Canadian kids. This grant will go a long way towards helping us to promote the sport of speed skating in southern Alberta, provide training and development opportunities to our volunteer coaches and officials and to repair and rebuild our equipment so we can continue to provide a safe training environment with affordable rental options to our skater families. #SportReliefFund

We know that a dollar doesn't stretch as far as it used to. If cost is preventing you from registering to skate with us (or any other sport or activity), please be aware that there may be some funding available to assist you: The Jumpstart program allows you to request $150 per application per child, and you can put in up to 2 requests per child for the same, or for different activities. However, they are doing their annual system shut down on Nov 2nd. It will not reopen u...ntil mid-January.
