Just in time for Halloween...
The Létourneau pipe organ at St. Mark’s School of Texas was significantly damaged last October when a tornado ripped through the neighbourhood of North Dallas. The tornado tore parts of the school chapel’s roof off and much of the 61-rank instrument was soaked, including its three-manual console. We are pleased to announce an agreement was recently signed for the instrument’s complete restoration, with the organ to be removed this summer and transported back to our workshops in St-Hyacinthe, Québec. We are grateful to St. Mark’s School for entrusting us with this project and like them, we look forward to Opus 127’s return to Dallas in the summer of 2021!
Some good news for a Friday afternoon: The Létourneau team will be returning to work on Monday, May 11th! Naturally, every precaution will be taken to ensure everyone stays healthy and safe in the weeks ahead as we get back to building pipe organs. This will include regular handwashing, proper respiratory etiquette, frequent cleaning of all surfaces and tools, and a strict observance of social distancing. Much of the past week has been spent preparing our workshop for this new reality and we thought we’d share some photos. In the meantime, we trust you and your families are in good health and are staying safe. We’ll have more news next week about some future projects.
Yesterday, the Government of Québec directed all non-essential workplaces in the province to close as a measure to fight the coronavirus outbreak. The Létourneau workshops will accordingly be closed until April 13th at the earliest. The company’s leadership team will continue to work from our homes during this time and, naturally, we would be pleased to hear from you. In the meantime, we encourage everyone to follow the advice of your local health authorities and stay safe! https://cdn-contenu.quebec.ca//19-210-30A_Guide-auto-soins
Létourneau Pipe Organs is delighted to announce the appointment of Andrew Forrest to the position of Vice President, in addition to his current responsibilities as Artistic Director. Mr. Forrest brings a wealth of experience to this new position, having worked his way up through the Létourneau company over the past twenty years. His deep passion for all facets of the pipe organ is well known, extending to the instrument’s music, design, construction, and sound. He is equal...ly well regarded by the company’s clients for his exceptional customer care and service. Having served as an officer for the American Institute of Organbuilders and the Associated Pipe Organ Builders of America, Mr. Forrest is no stranger in the profession. Létourneau’s President Dr. Dudley Oakes expressed the utmost confidence in Mr. Forrest’s artistic leadership and managerial abilities: I have known Andrew through Létourneau for twenty years now and it has been a pleasure to watch him grow into this role. I look forward to the continuation of our long and productive association. See more
