This is a call for nominations for students to serve on the Vancouver Senate for the upcoming one-year term, beginning April 1, 2021. Available positions are as follows: Two elected student representatives from the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies on the Vancouver Senate (all graduate students registered in programs administered by the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies may nominate, register, and vote)... One elected student representative per each of the following Faculties* on the Vancouver Senate: Applied Science, Arts, Commerce and Business Administration, Dentistry, Forestry, Land and Food Systems, Medicine, Peter A. Allard School of Law, Pharmaceutical Sciences, and Science (students registered in the particular faculty may nominate, register, and vote) *N.B. the Education Student Senator's term runs from October 1, 2020 to September 30, 2021. The required nomination forms are available for download here (Please ensure you are using the correct form): facultystaff.students.ubc.ca/2021-student-senate-and-board- We request that completed forms be accompanied by a statement of not more than 250 words in support of the nominee’s candidacy. Statements are to be written in the first person and submitted no later than the deadline below. Completed nomination forms and statements must be received no later than 4:00pm on Friday, February 19, 2021. The Equity Student Advisory Council (ESAC) provides a forum for student leaders to share their voices and collaboratively inform Equity & Inclusion Office policies, decisions, and practices. This is an exciting professional development opportunity to learn about policy making at UBC and to shape decisions that impact students. Opportunities The Colour Project (TCP) is a student-run initiative focused on providing peer-based emotional support to those struggling with depression & anxiety through anonymous texting with trained volunteers. They are launching a beta version of the site & platform in January 2021, and are looking for 1:1 volunteers to join for this test phase (1-2 months), to support help-seekers. The commitment would be about 2 hours per week, and timing is flexible through the ...week. There will be two required training sessions over Zoom on November 25th and 26th from 6-7:30pm. If you or anyone you know may be interested in volunteering or gaining training in this area, please email Amanda and Ian at [email protected].
