Happy Intergalactic Holidays!

The Dec 17 show was a wonderful experience. Our thanks to everyone involved! Both this and the Nov 19 show were amazing. We'll be sharing photos and video from these shows with you over the holidays but, in the meantime, here is a wonderful message, written by Maggie Greyson, our Futurist on Dec 17: "Today we celebrated the MOOD festival. We celebrated both ...the comfort and possible discomforts of joy--... You have opened your minds and hearts, we knew you would, and we of course have a gift to give to you. As a futurist, I work in the arts of imagination and science. And I want to give you the gift of empathy. I bring you this gift in the form of many futures. I bring you the power to think with a futurist mindset. We think about the future all the time, but not with the distance of Proxima B, many light years away. Close your eyes for a minute. You, close all three of them! We are in 2028 right now and what does the Earth look like? Is it a little blurry? How about, what does the Dance Cave look like? Does it look the same as it did in the year 2004? It’s 2028 and you just enjoyed a great night of thought provoking comedy. You still feel the floor beneath your feet and you hear the laughter of people beside you. The temperature outside is still minus 12’C. Dr. Clara Voyant is telling me that you smell the delicious poutine across the street but you don’t want to leave the Dance Cave just yet. What do you desire to hold in the future? Reach out into the room and grab a hold of it. Smush it between your fingers. Is the future still blurry? Is the future still dystopian or utopian? Open all of your eyes. If you hold a Futurist mindset, you make a place for everything in between a heaven and hell. With a Futurist mindset we create a place for ambiguity. If you use your beautiful imaginations, you can make what you see happen. You can write a song! you can float in the sky! You can be a cat-human scientist! (These things are all happening -- look it up.) In a Futurist mindset, we make room for everyone’s vision of the future. If you can't imagine it, you can’t make it happen. Everyone participate in envisioning the future, because the future belongs to everyone. As a Futurist, I want you to talk to one another about one small step you can make today towards making your own desired futures.
