Mermaids live in the ocean, we all know this! I think most of us when we close our eyes and think of a mermaid we envision that classic up-on -the-rock-with-the-waves -crashing version of Ariel. Something about mermaids just feels like longing to me.. bound to the sea by obligation, much as we are bound to the Earth. There is a yearning to know more, to explore further, to feel deeper.
