Myth: I can deduct my pet bills on my tax return as they are my depandents. Truth: Pets do become part of our family but they are not considered dependants for tax purposes. Therefore you cannot claim pet bills on your tax return .
Myth: I can take money out of my RRSP tax free for my child's education. Truth: You cannot take money of your RRSP tax free for your child's education. However you may withdraw tax free from your RRSP for YOUR education or YOUR SPOUSE'S education. This program is called the Life-long Learning Program and the amount withdrawn will be repaid to the RRSP over 10 years.
