We are now taking entries to be included in Pastor Willie Thiessen's biography. If you would like to contribute, entries can be emailed to [email protected] or to this inbox. Additionally, you can call to include an entry at 1-226-348-4943. Pastor Willie served for decades in ministry and touched many lives. Whether you knew him personally, distantly or even simply heard one of his sermons, we want to hear your story. Additionally, if you knew Pastor Willie pers...onally and have biographical details you would like to contribute, we can discuss scheduling an interview time to learn more. We also ask that because Pastor Willie had many friends and family members who will not see this post, to please share it with those you feel may be interested, including those who may not use social media. We look forward to hearing all stories and contributions! Thanks!

Keep your eyes open for an update later this week regarding how to contribute to Pastor Willie Thiessen's story. For now, here is a short, fun excerpt that I believe demonstrates just how quickly Pastor Willie was forced to grow up as the eldest child in a traditional Mennonite family in southern Manitoba. _____________________________________ "There exists a family story when a young Willie, while still a young teen, drove himself and his younger siblings across the Mennonit...e territories from Schoenwiese to Blumenort to visit their maternal grandparents nearly 30 minutes of driving in all." ____________________________________ Picture: Pastor Willie with parents Jacob and Susanna Thiessen, 1939

An update! First, we wanted to thank you all for your support following the release of "Cheryll Viteri: Life and Legacy." We have recieved lots of positive feedback, and we appreciate everyone who contributed to the project, liked and shared posts, and purchased the book. Second, we are pleased to finally announce a project that we have been preparing for and doing some preliminary work on. For the following months, we will be working on a larger, longer-term project for a ...prominent Leamington figure in Bishop Willie Thiessen of New Reinland Mennonite Church, who we sadly lost just before Christmas. Willie was known as a great man of faith and compassion and undoubtedly touched many with his preaching and ability to form lasting relationships. We hope that you will enjoy receiving updates on this project and look forward to the release of this book in the future. See more

Cheryll Viteri: Life and Legacy Available Saturday, January 23rd on Amazon stores around the world. ___________________________________________________... In the summer of 2020, with the coronavirus pandemic looming large, Life and Legacy Publishing posed a contest in which one winner with a compelling history could have their biography written free of charge. I was immediately drawn to an entry regarding a woman who had moved her life from the comforts of suburban Michigan to the undeveloped rural lands of Ecuador. After meeting Cheryll through a video call and learning more of her story, I was pleased with our selection. Not only has Cheryll lived a fascinating story, but she is a fantastic storyteller also. She has an impressive memory, and during our conversations she was able to recall events from over a half-century ago and tell these stories with enthusiasm. However, what impressed me most is Cheryll’s ability to tell an honest, complicated story in which she is willing to discuss her difficulties, her successes, and most impressive of all, her regrets. After committing over 50 years to one key decision, it is difficult to revisit that time and wonder if things could have been different, and wonder if a mistake was made. Cheryll navigates those feelings admirably. As for the contents of this book, Cheryll was given the opportunity to essentially tell this story her way. Nearly all of the information within it was gleaned from over 10 hours of video interviews with Cheryll, along with some input from family and friends. It was a joy to spend my Saturday afternoons on call with Cheryll, learning not only her story but also some Wohletz family lore, Ecuadorian history, and more context around certain events she lived through. My hope is that this book captures the spirit of Cheryll’s life and the events that unfolded around her.
