Who was Ty Pozzobon? Ty grew up in Merritt, B.C with a dream of conquering untamed wild beasts, eight seconds at a time, for gold buckles, glory and fame. At th...e age of 25, Pozzobon was a three-time CFR qualifier and was crowned the 2016 PBR Canadian Champion. He then went on to finish fourth in the PBR Built Ford Tough World Finals in Las Vegas. Not all victories, however, were won free of injury, and Pozzobon sustained his fair share of bumps, bruises, and severe concussions. The battle within Ty’s mind was one he would tragically lose on January 9, 2017, when he took his own life. The number of concussions was taken into account for Ty’s suicide and due to the number of concussions he had endured, pointed to the traits of someone suffering from a Traumatic Brain Injury. After his death, his family decided to put together the Ty Pozzobon Foundation to protect and support the heath and well-being of rodeo competitions inside and outside of the arena. MYLAN HICKS 1993-2016......September 25 2016....A day I will NEVER FORGET My phone rang at 6:30 am on Sunday morning September 25, 2016 The voice on the other w...as shaky and soft asking "Did you hear what happened? MYLAN is dead. I can’t believe it" I had to ask "Who is this? It’s me Quinn he answered" It was Stampeder lineman Quinn Smith. I asked "What do you mean MYLAN is dead....what happened?" MYLAN and his teammates were celebrating a win against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers the afternoon before, September 24. They were at a Calgary night club where MYLAN was shot and killed in the parking lot in the early morning hours September 25th. I immediately drove to Calgary and picked Quinn up and we went to the stadium to meet with rest of Mylan’s teammates. All I’ll say is it was heart wrenching to see the panic and devastation coming from the guys, most of which had witnessed the tragic happening a few hours earlier I never want us to let Mylan’s memory slip away into the past. So in HONOR of this AMAZING young man...teammate, brother to many and son to his very special parents I say LOVE YOU MYLAN, your memory will live on through all of us. MYLAN HICKS was a young man of Faith so I know he resting at the side of our Lord and we will meet again. Until that day #31 may be gone from this earth but will NEVER BE FORGOTTEN.
