LG carbohydrates can help maintain normal blood sugars and cholesterols support a healthy heart can help manage hunger and keep you full longer help prolong physical endurance. But What is Low-Glycemic-Impact-eating? The Glycemic Index (GI) is measured on a scale of 1 to 100 (1 being low and 100 being high) this is what a diabetic uses to measure and manage their blood sugar levels. That being said, we don’t need to be a diabetic to reap the benefits. LG foods produce little to no fluctuations in blood sugar levels. This is significant because when your blood sugar rises quickly, your body increases insulin production, telling your body to store fat. If you have ever eaten food because it is low fat, whole wheat, or low calorie, this may be misleading because although all of that may be true, it may also quickly break down into sugar. If that is true, this food is considered to have a high GI and will raise the body’s sugar rapidly and signalling it to store fat. By controlling GI of your food it will promote normal blood sugar levels and enable the body to stay in a fat-burning mode. The Glycemic Load (GL) while a GI measures how a food will affect your blood sugar levels, it doesn’t tell you how much of that food is in a serving. It is important to take both the GI and GL into consideration to fully understand how a food affects your blood sugar. The GL will reflect the GI of a food, but also the amount of food eaten. The amount of GL is important because it helps explain some GI ratings that would otherwise be misleading. If we look at raw carrots as an example, they are a food that is considered to have a high GI rating, even though they are relatively low in carbohydrate and have health benefits. However raw carrots have a low GL rating because it would take almost 750ml (3 cups) of carrots to equal 50 grams of carbohydrates. And since most people don’t eat 3 cups of carrots, enjoying them on a low Glycemic meal plan would be permitted.

Hello My name is Shannon, I am married with two children ages 10 and 11. I have been passionate about health and exercise pretty much my whole life, well since I grew up and have been responsible for my own food I believe in healthy eating and not to say I don’t appreciate a nice treat.... but with moderation. Same as I ‘try’ to teach my kids. At one time I helped people learn how to run a 10km race, then they would challenge themselves to run farther. These people who be...came friends became more confident and learned to believe in themselves it was a beautiful process. They learned that if they followed a schedule and practiced their minds started to believe too. And that’s when the success happened! Now that I’m older, I have started to see the challenges of staying slim and even though you eat healthy and exercise, these still don’t seem to give us the results we want. My best success has come from eating a low glycemic diet. Which really isn’t a diet at all. It’s just a way of eating everyday. And for some of us a healthy supplement can also be a benefit. This is because sometimes our hormones are preventing us from getting the results we were hoping for. I enjoy all kinds of exercise, and just like shoes not all size, shape or colour fits all....you need to find your own fit. Staying active is one link in leading a healthy life. You may like walking, running, swimming, roller blading, bilking, playing tennis, working out in a gym or maybe even at home. Any, all or perhaps something else. If you are active....that’s exercise. I hope you enjoyed meeting me and reading about my philosophy of trying to live a healthy life. As I mentioned at one time I was passionate about teaching people to run and find their inner confidence. Today I am passionate about helping people find their healthy lifestyle. And if losing weight or feeling stronger is a product of living your healthy life then that’s pretty okay with me and I bet wouldn’t be so bad for you either.
