On December 25, Christmas Day we partnered with Victory Church Chilliwack for a "Christmas Day Banquet" for underprivileged families from Chilliwack Central Elementary School. Principal Waddington coordinated with Pastor Morris and myself to select the families who would most benefit from such an event like this on Christmas Day. Many of these families would not have had a traditional Christmas dinner and gift receiving time like we provided for them. In the pictures that are... posted you will see some of the gifts and prizes that were given out and also won through the 'draws'. All those who attended this gathering were over the top thankful for everything that had been done. Victory church volunteers put together a fabulous Turkey dinner with all the trimmings plus awesome desserts. Life Exchange provided three large gift packages in the draws plus every families received a Gift Card to Walmart for their shopping requirements. We also gave out two starter fishing rods; one to a boy and another to a girl. Big thank you to pastors Morris and Jared and their team for the awesome event that they sponsored in their church fellowship hall and my team for their donations to purchase all the wonderful gifts for those present from the school. This past Wednesday we partnered with the Chilliwack Young Family Association to provide our annual Teen Parent Christmas Banquet. 25 Young Parents with their children, spouses and supportive family attended this event that is in the Alumni Banquet Room at Chilliwack High. The Traditional Turkey Dinner with all the trimming and desserts fed their hunger pangs. Face Painting, Balloon Animals, Colouring Contest and of course Photo Ops with Santa and his elves. Life Exchange ...provides a Christmas card with a gift card to either Walmart or Superstore for the parents to buy what they need for the children. We also provided 3 major gifts, which you can see in the photos. Unfortunately, a number of young mom's & dad's couldn't make it due to sickness. They will be looked after as best as possible by ourselves and donors. My three lady helpers love to be here every year to serve, care for the young parents and of course hold the many babies and toddlers. I got to play tag with 3 little ones that were full of energy and chatter. We are so very thankful for the many donors that make this event possible every year. This program and provision is just one of a number that we make happen at Christmas. We work with 7 elementary schools giving them Gift Cards and Hampers to care for the many families and children in critical need. You will see in a couple of weeks pics and commentary on our Christmas Day Banquet that we are partnering with another charity to make happen. Central Elementary school is probably the most in need school and community in the city. We are working with the principal and staff to have a great celebration for hopefully 25 families. Of course, Santa, Mrs. Claus and the elves will be present after Santa delivers all his present to children around the globe!!!! We provide Christmas cards with Gift Card to every family, plus Christmas Goody bags for the children. There will be a draw for some major Gift Packages. Home cooked Turkey Dinner and desserts will fill many tummies and hearts. If you are one of our supporters, thank you for making these events and more happen every year and throughout the year. We still need many donations to cover the increased number of children and families in some very challenging life scenarios. We also want to be prepared for January as the requests from underprivileged children is growing yearly. Thank you for your interest support and investment into Life Exchange's Charitable Care Ventures. Merry Christmas!! Rod and Linda See more

On November 25 Life Exchange hosted their "Christmas is for Kid's Banquet" with over 45 children in attendance plus 100 parents and supporters. 4 Principals partnered with us to invite families that were going through very challenging and difficult times. 20 families attended. We were privileged to use First Avenue Christian Assembly's gymnasium and kitchen. Kerry Krahn and Chef Darcy from Wellington House Restaurant catered the delicious turkey dinner for us. It was a full ...evening of food, fun and family. We had live Christmas music with Josh and Dave playing /singing along with our Elves DJ, Rodney and Sonja making the jingle come alive. Santa and Mrs. Claus were able to attend this year's Banquet having many children take photo's with them. Sheri Moore captured as many as possible pics for the family's. We had Hockey Night in Chilliwack Shoot Out for the kid's. Our Elves were in goal with the kid's taking shots on net. All the children participated with some using a hockey stick for the first time. We were privileged to have some special stories to encourage families that are going through very challenging times. Kim Gemmell and son Avery shared their amazing story of Avery having severe heart problems as a baby having to endure 4 operations in his first year of life. He has suffered a number of life challenges due to the issues as a baby but has "overcome" amazingly with graduating from high school and now in his 3rd year university. What a powerful story of experiencing Overcoming Hope Attained! Carla Sieb shared her story of experiencing Overcoming Hope Attained. At 14 her family was in a deadly car accident where a drunk driver ran his truck into their parked vehicle nearly killing Carla. She was taken to hospital with life threatening damage to her head and body. She was told that she may never speak properly, never regain her memory nor function normally. She battled very dark days as a teen with suicide every pressing in on her. Miraculously, she regained her speech, memory and body coordination. Graduated from High School. Went to university. Doctors told her she won't have any children. She got married and today has 4 children and works as a Special Ed Teacher. Amazing life story. The children received Christmas goody bags. A number of prizes were won by parents in the Ticket Draw. And every family received a Poinsettia to take home. Many positive and thankful comments from the families that attended. We were so blessed by the many team members that came and helped in making the evening a night to remember. You can see some of the pics here of the event. More are coming. You that are donors helped to make this event and others like it an encouraging difference in a child's life. Thank you for your financial support. Thank you for your partnership to achieve "together we are better!" See more
