STAFF RIDES: Andrew 2021 Rocky Mountain Instinct A50 It’s kind of my do-everything bike. Burly enough fork for some bike park days, but still small enough travel that I can do laps around the local mountain with it. I had last year’s model, and they made it a little longer in the reach and a little bit slacker with the headtube, and it just feels a lot better all around as a bike.... I’ve pretty much changed everything. It’s got a RockShox Lyrik up front, Super Deluxe in the back. It’s on Hope Pro4 hubs with Race Face ARC 30 wheels. It’s running a Shimano XT derailleur with a Deore shifter on a SunRace 10-50T cassette with an X01 chain, RaceFace Turbine cranks, Chromag BZA handlebar in carbon, with a Turbine stem. I run the TRP Quadiem brakes on Shimano 203 rotors. It has a 9point8 200mm dropper post. I have the Specialized Power saddle in 155mm width. And I run the OneUp tool in the stem. And then the little keg in the bottle holder, because I ride with a backpack - it carries my CO2, tire levers, and a spare tube. And the Kyle Strait Meaty Paw grips because I have larger hands. That’s pretty much it. Can’t wait to ride it more this summer. #LifeCyclesBikeShop #SmilingAndPedalling

MEET THE STAFF: Coewen All-arounder HOW DID YOU GET CONNECTED TO LIFE CYCLES? I’ve been coming here since I was a little kid to get my bike worked on, and it’s always been a place I’ve wanted to work. So when I got the opportunity, I took it! I’ve been here for almost 4 months now. I do a little bit of everything, working on bikes when it’s needed and then helping on the floor. I enjoy dealing with the customers the most - talking to people, making people happy and s...tuff like that. I just like interacting with people. I’m a very social person - it’s a fun part. WHAT’S YOUR HISTORY WITH RIDING? HOW DID YOU GET INTO IT? At first it started just me and my buddies. One buddy actually lives on Ledgeview and we went for a walk and we saw the trails, I was probably about 7 at the time. So we went and grabbed our bikes, which were not meant for the trails at all, and we got into it. I originally started riding on a BMX bike around the park and then I bought a mountain bike and started from there, riding all the local mountains and stuff. I’ve been riding for probably ten, eleven years now. My favourite trails are probably Ledgeview or Sumas. There are a lot of good, flowy trails that I like. I’m also a fan of Thornhill and Woodlot, and all that too. I like a lot of the local mountains. WHAT ELSE DO YOU LIKE TO DO WHEN YOU AREN’T RIDING? I’m very mechanically inclined. Right now I’m actually working on my project truck, a 1969 Ford pickup. I’m rebuilding the motor and stuff on that. I also have dirt bikes and stuff I like to work on. I’m going to school to become a heavy duty mechanic, so I’m doing a lot of courses to get into that right now. So yeah, I’m busy with school and stuff I like to do - biking, hunting, fishing, anything outdoorsy, mechanics, lots of different stuff like that. WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO SAY TO YOUR FELLOW RIDERS? Do what you love. Even if it means working hard, taking time out of your schedule, or doing something that you don’t want to do - do what you have to do to make it happen. #LifeCycles #SmilingAndPedalling See more
