Enjoy the spring weather but keep an eye out for rotten ice! This time of year, ice on our lakes and rivers is getting weaker due to the constant freeze and thaw cycle. Falling through ice can lead to cold water shock, making it harder to swim out of an already dangerous situation. Rescuing another person from ice can be dangerous. The safest way to do so if from the safety of the shore. If you see someone in trouble, call 911. For more information, visit our website www.li...fesaving.org #springiceisrottenice #beicesmart #lifesavingsocietyabnwt

RESCHEDULING OF THE 2021 CANADIAN POOL LIFESAVING CHAMPIONSHIPS (CPLCS) 15 February 2021 The 2021 CPLCs that were to be held at the Centre sportif de Gatineau i...n Gatineau, Quebec from June 4th-6th have been postponed to November 2021. The Lifesaving Society Canada decided to postpone the event due to the current restrictions across the country as result of COVID-19 and the uncertainty around whether or not the situation will be improved enough by June to host a National Championship. This decision was made out of concern for the health and safety of lifesaving athletes, officials, volunteers, partners and other delegates. Further announcements will be made as the COVID-19 situation develops over the coming months. See more
