Life With Derek

Today’s activity. We did some directed drawing. I helped Derek followed each step to draw a turtle. Then he coloured it in. He even wrote the word turtle.

Today’s activity. I created a feed the bird counting game. Derek rolled a dice and counted the dots. He then had to use the tongs to pick up the corresponding number of pipe cleaner worms to the bird.

Today’s activity. Derek made blobs of paint all over one half of a butterfly cutout. Then we folded it in half and he squished the paint around. When we opened it up there was now paint in both half’s of the butterfly. We now had a symmetrical painting.

Today’s activity. We were gifted a micro greens planting kit so I decided to have Derek help me plant some pea sprouts. Hopefully we followed the instructions correctly and they turn out. We will know in a few days.

Today’s activity. I got a sponge slightly damp and put it on top of a clear cup. Any clear container will work. We used a yogurt drink bottle to drop water onto the sponge. Like a cloud, it will eventually get over-saturated and start to drip through to the container below, making rain. The sponge will eventually get over filled with water and some will drip off the sides. When this happens the sponge will need to be squeezed out and then you can keep going. Derek enjoyed this activity and wanted to keep going until we had filled up the whole cup.
