I saw a post in a mountain bike group the other day. The guy said he was setting up a ‘Carrera MTB Group’ and that he knows people will probably laugh, but the...y could join if they like. There is NO REASON for people to laugh at it (some did, most encouraged him). It doesn’t matter whether you ride a Yeti or a 50 bike from Halfords. A Santa Cruz enthusiast group is just as viable as a Carrera one in my opinion. Cost doesn’t and shouldn’t come in to it. There’s no room for snobbery in the MTB World, there’s enough of that in the rest of the world. I think mountain biking should be accessible to everyone. Whether you want to (or can) spend 7k on a bike or whether you are on a shoe string budget...or just don’t WANT to spend a fortune on a bike (some of my wealthiest one-one clients don’t drive flash cars ) Sure, nice bikes are more fun to ride and perform better at what they are meant to do...but every rider should be proud of their bike...and they certainly should NEVER be embarrassed!
