Here’s a glimpse from Easter weekend: Good Friday is awful to behold, and shocking to consider, but it is the only place you can look to see that Justice and Mercy have met. "Jesus is alive and not dead. He is alive and sin is forgiven, and God has not abandoned us but rescued us, and one day we will get to be with him fully, finally, freely, and forever and that’s the good news of the gospel. ... Easter Sunday Service is live-streaming at 10am! Join us to hear about the risen Jesus what happened and what it means! Easter feels different again this year. We won’t be meeting in person, hugging our loved ones, or eating together. What a time to be reminded of the hope that Jesus offers a lonely, broken, dangerous, uncertain, and suffering world. So whether you’re hoping in Jesus already, skeptical, curious, or unsure of where your hope lays, we invite you to join us for our Easter Service at 10am. We’d love to have you! Service Link below

God’s wonderful surprise indeed! The angel said to the women, Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. (Matthew 28:5,6) Join us for Easter Sunday Service @10am! Livestream link in bio or click here: https://lighthousechurch.online.church/

Happy Easter weekend! Below we’ve linked our Easter Children’s Ministry video from last year. We hope you and your children will enjoy being reminded of God’s big surprise!

Lighthouse Church 27.02.2021

The beautiful tension in art reminds us of the beautiful tension in existence: our hopeless plight met with divine rescue; our struggle with sin met with the sinless Savior who defeated death. It’s the tension of the already, not yet kingdom of God. We live in Holy Saturday, between the pain of Good Friday and the triumph of Easter Sunday. We celebrate and take comfort in the first advent of Christthat he came and conquered sin and death on our behalf. But we wait and long for his second advent, when he will come on a white horse, his eyes ablaze and a sword coming out of his mouth (Rev. 19:1116), to once and for all bring justice and resolution to this deeply broken world.

But, why would we be motivated to forgive? Part 2: We Are First Forgiven The Bible makes some big claims about who God is, why we are here, and what life is about. And at the very heart of the Christian faith is the gospel. A good news message that begins with some pretty bad news about who we are. It says we are a broken, sinful people (and it’s not just that we do, think, and say bad things; it's that we have adopted an entire way of life that devalues God and exalts se...lf-interest at the very foundation). But God, our Creator, longed for our relationship with him to be restored. So he sent his son Jesus to live the life we could not (in perfect submission and obedience to God the Father!) and to die the death we deserve (for our sinful and rebellious hearts!) so that we could once again live in the presence of the Father (just like in the Garden of Eden!). In Christ, we have been offered eternal forgiveness and a restored relationship with our maker (1 Corinthians 15:3-4). If this is true, then what can’t forgiveness be dependent on? (Look out for Part 3 next Wednesday! )

The first surprise of this story (Luke 5:1-11) is that Simon felt no joy at a boat full of fish, but instead felt shame and fear wanting Jesus to leave him. The double surprise is that Jesus doesn’t leave! The moment Simon feels most unwelcome because of his sin and guilt, is when Jesus welcomes him in. So again. Are you ready to meet Jesus? Have you felt this too your need, grief over sin, Jesus’ illuminating where you fall short, perhaps coming to the point where you lo...ng for him to depart but see that he will not? It’s a good place to be. Jesus’ grace runs only one direction, down to the needy. A long long long long time ago, God promised a King. He wasn’t any ordinary King though, like the ones we see on TV or hear about in the news. He would be all together different. He would be a rescuing, loving, reigning-forever kind of King! ‘The Christmas Promise’ retells the Christmas story in an engaging, biblical, gospel-centered way and would be a great read over the next few weeks leading up to Christmas! You can find The Christmas Promise on @amazon and @wts_books

Most of us, whether we identify as Christian or not, believe we are familiar with the story of the nativity. Joseph, Mary, and baby Jesus resting in a manger are displayed on our mantles and songs about shepherds and kingsmen fill our homes. We walk past each other saying, Merry Christmas and read books about Jesus’ birth to our kids. But what if in our familiarity we’ve lost our curiousness about the supernatural gravity of this biblical story? In ‘Hidden Christmas’, T...im Keller takes us on a journey to understanding the background story of the nativity and reminds us of the True Hope that was brought to a desperate world that night. You can find ‘Hidden Christmas: The Surprising Truth Behind the Birth of Christ’ on @amazon and @wtsbooks

Lighthouse Church 19.10.2020

A glimpse from Sunday: There isn’t a single person in the world that God looks at and thinks, Hey, I think that person would make a good Christian. I could really use them on my team. Some of us think that way though, and when we do we betray that we haven’t quite understood the good news about Jesus. He’s not out scouting for talent, looking to recruit all the right people to his team so that maybe, if possible, with the right people, perhaps then he’ll be able to acco...mplish his goals for the world. That’s maybe what coaches do, but Jesus is not our coach, he’s our Saviour. Jesus takes dead things and makes them alive. Which means he isn’t waiting for the right people to come along who will bless his mission, he’s taking people who are a complete wreck and he’s saving us, changing us, transforming us and empowering us even in our many weaknesses to carry out his mission of bringing the good news of his grace to a world that desperately needs it. Part 1: Forgiveness Have you ever struggled to forgive someone? Maybe someone close to you has hurt you, gossiped about you, punished you out of jealousy, or belittled you? Or perhaps someone has stolen from you, cheated you, or lied to you? It’s probable that all of us, at some point, have struggled to extend forgiveness: They don’t deserve it, They will do it again, They aren’t sorry! I don’t trust things will change, They haven’t apologized, I would never d...o what they did! These things may be true, actually. But forgiveness is not trust; nor avoidance, nor promised reconciliation. It is a pardoningreleasing an other from the punishment they deserve. It’s an exemption, an acquittal, a freeing, a grace! But, why would we be motivated to forgive? Join us next Wednesday for part 2! Blessed is the one whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered. Blessed is the man against whom the Lord counts no iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no deceit. (Psalm 32:1)

You can rest assured that if you have faith in Jesus today, eternal hope, physical and spiritual healing, forever help is here. And for every mark of the Fall you’ve experienced the sin of others or sin you have committed, Jesus is able to heal it. He has come to tell us about a better day. He came to re-write the rules of the way of life. He IS life itself. To watch this past Sunday’s sermon, head to our YouTube channel by clicking the link below

Do you believe that an eternity awaits? And if so, does your life reflect that? We so often hear that this life is all we have (YOLO, right?); it can be hard to remember what is true amidst the noise. When we ignore the call of ‘Forever’, and instead search for ultimate fulfillment in the here and now trying different relationships, traveling more, working harder, and continuing to upgrade our lives we find ourselves left unsatisfied. The problem is that we’re looking ...in the wrong place altogether. In Forever, Paul David Tripp reveals that this life isn’t a destination, but a preparation for a final destination. Having an eternity perspective enables us to live for something bigger than this moment; seeking ultimate satisfaction in Jesus rather than in our relationships, locations, bank account, and circumstances. Who do you listen to the most? Whose voice has the greatest influence on you? Perhaps it’s yourself, family & friends, your favourite author or social media influencer? This week we are looking at Luke 4:31-44 and the power and authority of Jesus. And how, if Jesus is who he claims to be, he ought to have our minds, ears, hearts, and hands. He ought to have the greatest influence over our lives. We look forward to seeing you this Sunday in-person at Silvercity Tillicum or online for our service livestream.

Jesus is a teacher who doesn’t just inform our intellect but forms our very loves. He isn’t content to simply deposit new ideas into your mind; he is after nothing less than your wants, your loves, your longings.

The gospel is the announcement that a king has come - it’s a royal proclamation! And it’s a good news announcement because here’s a king who actually cares and who actually has authority and who actually has power and he’s not going to use it to destroy you, or oppress you like the kings of the earth, he’s going to use it to deliver you. To save you. And to restore all of creation. Jesus is a king of rest and restoration. Check out Sunday’s sermon on our YouTube channel by clicking here: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=YkeCIomxYZU

You can find yesterday’s Children’s Ministry lesson on our YouTube Channel by clicking the link below This week we are learning that God goes before us! And that he is with us in: EVERY moment of EVERYday in whatEVER season we may be in! We remember that we don’t have to fear what the day (... or week or year) may bring, because we belong to the One who rules & reigns over it all! ... It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed. (Deuteronomy 31:8)
