HOPE in the midst of UNCERTAINTY Not knowing what the future holds is an all too familiar feeling for those #ttc. This pandemic has unfortunately amplified the uncertainty which can make it even harder to feel hopeful. What I eventually learned during my fertility struggles was that while uncertainty is inevitable you CAN control how you respond to it. It is possible to learn from it and it can motivate you to practice acceptance and living in the present.... When your feeling overwhelmed with uncertainty try these 3 things Identity the small things you can control during this waiting period. Maybe it’s incorporating something new into your schedule like a daily nature walk. Or setting aside time for meal planning and food prep. Small things add up. Perhaps it’s creating a new tradition with your partner (Netflix and home made pizza night) Experiment with a Mind Body technique that works for YOU. Don’t underestimate the power of these tools to help you focus on the present and minimize worries about an uncertain future. This isn’t an instant relief but with practice you will feel more grounded. Self Compassion is key. Be kind towards yourself. Your resiliency has taken you this far. Acknowledge that this time can be used productivity to prepare your mind and body for pregnancy And remember, #hopeisnotcancelled Repost @morganharpernichols See more

I read that statement in a recent opinion piece by a @universityoftorronto professor, and it really struck me. He talked about how we should ignore all of the Covid-19 inspired productivity pressure that seems to be flooding our social media feeds. Instead, he suggests we should be focused intensely on our physical and psychological wellbeing. So how can this advice apply to those who are facing delays on their fertility treatments, especially when the waiting o...r ‘in between ‘ is impossibly hard? Here are some tips to consider: 1. First thing first. Develop your sense of security (think food and meal prep) and build your sustainable social connections & support while respecting physical distancing. Join an online peer fertility support group Fertility Matters Canada. Virtual Fertility coaching and therapy can also be a helpful resource. 2. Mental Shift- this health crisis is an opportunity to focus inward vs outward. Positive psychology tools such as a gratitude practice, journaling and meditation can help through these uncertain times. Circle + Bloom have some great fertility focused guided relaxation exercises 3.Embrace a new normal. Once you establish 1 & 2 you can focus on building your new routine. Develop a schedule that prioritizes security, social connection and then carve out blocks for the different categories of your life: work, relationships, exercise, nutrition and personal growth. myMindBodyBaby have created at home Fertility focused workouts and meal plans 4. Helping others-if you are able to, consider supporting a community based agency that is helping the most vulnerable in our communities. Fertility warriors- any other tips you can share? See more
