Sometimes when we stop serving picnics for the season, our little lighthouse becomes the setting for an award-winning dance film. Congratulations to Louise Moyes - Docudance and Pagoda Productions on the release ‘On Hold’ on CBC GEM for all to watch across Canada. On Hold - Film is a short dance film by Louise & her father John Moyes, who commissioned dance and visual artist Nicola Hawkins of Admiral’s Cove to choregraph and direct this beautiful film.... As the days get colder, we can all dream about warmer days next summer at the Lighthouse. In the meantime, to help keep you warm this winter you can wear one of our Ferryland Lighthouse toques. These are one size, available in black, charcoal and navy and are $17+HST. We can arrange pickup in Ferryland, the St. John’s area, or simply drop one in the mail to you to send a little piece of home to a loved one this year. A huge note of thanks to all who made our last day of the Lighthouse Picnics season a great one for the Gathering Place. We are delighted to say Barb and the lighthouse team will be presenting a donation of $5375 to the Gathering Place next week. Thank you so much to all the team at the lighthouse who volunteered their time to make the picnics, to all those who joined us that day for a picnic and to all those called with donations. Outside of the funds we have collected, we k...now many people also called the Gathering Place directly to make a donation in the memory of Rick Kenny. Barb, Hubert and the entire Kenny family thank you all for celebrating Rick through these acts of kindness, it is so greatly appreciated.

For the past several years we have ended our season at Lighthouse Picnics by serving a lunch at the Gathering Place. We want to continue our tradition, but due to current circumstances we have decided that a monetary donation (and a delivery of desserts) may be the best fit for the needs at the Gathering Place this year. So next Sunday, September 27th at the lighthouse all of our picnic sales will go directly to the Gathering Place.... We do this in memory of Rick Kenny who passed away in May. Rick is the son of Barb & Hubert Kenny and throughout Rick’s life he supported such wonderful organizations as the Gathering Place, and believed we all have a part to play in making the world a better place. So many of you who have visited us over the years at the lighthouse know Rick’s mother Barb her energy, humour and talents have been showcased for many years at the lighthouse from baking bread, to fixing the water pump, to possibly painting over you if you stood still long enough . As we close our 18th season at Ferryland Lighthouse, please help us make this a great day for the Gathering Place.
