February 2021 It’s time to RENEW your BSHS membership! The Board of Directors of Bowser Seniors Housing Society would like to thank all of its members for their support. Your annual membership fee of $12.00 covers your membership from April 1, 2021 to March 31, 2022. With fundraising grinding to a halt in 2020 due to COVID, your membership dues are even more important to the Society.... You can renew your membership online at www.bshs.ca, by mailing to BSHS at Box 155, Bowser, BC, V0R1G0, or by dropping off at the Union Bay Credit Union in Magnolia Court. Our hope, wish, and dream were to have the foundation for Lighthouse Villa in the ground by now, but unfortunately bureaucratic red tape continues to prevent us from getting our final funding and approval to commence construction. We still hope that we will be able to start work this year. Thank you once again for your support, and we do hope we will be able to see you all in the not-too-distant future. Dear Friends of Bowser Seniors Housing Society: We hope you are keeping well and staying safe during this trying year. We will all get through this as we adapt to the new normal that has descended upon us. It certainly has been a challenging year for us at Bowser Seniors Housing Society with unanticipated bureaucratic delays. We had hoped to be in the ground by this fall; however, a number of items now need to be worked out between various government bodies, including th...e RDN and several Ministries (Transportation, Forests [Crown Land], and Housing). These are things that the Society has virtually no control over, but we remain optimistic that these matters will be resolved in the spring, that we will be fully funded, and that construction will begin. A significant portion of your contributions to date has been used to pay bills to move the project forward, and the balance has been invested and earmarked as our equity position in the project. (The greater our equity, the lower our mortgage.) In the interim, we continue to have bills to pay with limited resources available. As you know, our Gala was scheduled to occur on November 21st, but due to COVID-19 it was cancelled. This annual event normally provides us with approximately $15,000, the majority of our funding for the year. If you were planning to attend this event and provide continued support to the Society, would you consider providing us with a small donation? This could be incorporated into your year end tax planning, Christmas giving, or gifts in memoriam. As a registered charity, we can issue tax receipts for donations of $25.00 or more.
