Progressing nicely! Sorted out my greens, now - to sort out those violet hues. Glad I did the small study first. It's taken away most of the guessing.

This is definitely a departure from my 'normal', small paintings. This bad boy is 30x30. Who knew it would be something as simple as picking up a bigger brush. LOL! Made some changes from the much smaller study version, adjusted angles, values and such. It's going really well, but a bit slower, anyways. I also made this canvas from scratch, so now the goal is to get it done, and make the frame for it - then it'll be 100% original work.

What I've been working on: So much distance covered in this tiny 10" square painting. I think it'll end up being a study for a much larger piece. Just cuz I like it so much. Already made a 30" square canvas for the larger version. View from the high hill behind my house - taken in the spring of this year. You can see six different farms from up there (as well as a bunch of other stuff) Was definitely worth the hike.

**Mixed-media time!** With all the 'stuff' I've accumulated, it was time to put some of it together. This piece is made from an old cake pan I found in the ditch, some tiny, foraged wasp nests and a handful of other seemingly unrelated things. They all look so nice as one harmonious unit! Sometimes glue and scissors make for an entertaining afternoon - you never know what you can make.

So this lovely group of bus drivers approached me before school even started. They commissioned me to create a Christmas gift for their Bosses. This is how it turned out. I am very pleased with the results - and apparently so are they!! I'm extremely grateful to all the Divers at Musclow Bus Lines for allowing me to express my creativity. When painting vehicles or other architectural stuff, it's important to pay attention to the details. How everything lines up with everything else, how the light hits it, what's happening around it, tiny details....things I take into consideration when working on this stuff. Plus, my day-job makes me quite familiar with the subject matter.

**Dark Bathroom Art** The latest thing off the easel. More experimental than anything. One early Autumn afternoon there were several vultures circling nearby. Some of them decided to rest in the tree across the road from here. Thankfully, someone took a photo. Quite ominous, all those huge scavengers.

It looks so lovely all lit up. What a difference a few light bulbs make. Now I can hang out and paint any time I like!!

I have been busy! I just can't quite show you all what I've been working on.....it's a surprise. I CAN, however, show you what colors I've used. On a side note - I've made significant improvements in the studio lighting department. Treated myself to all-new bulbs throughout - full-spectrum daylight! Who new it would make so much difference? And such a simple fix to begin with - hardware store had the right bulbs in stock. Now I can use the place at night!! I'll get a pic of the little shack glowing in the dark....lights on!
