Had forgotten to post this. The last of my black and whites gone to it's new home . "Reservoir Dogs".
With the poppies in the garden reaching their last bloom, think it's an appropriate time to repost "Evening Poppies".
This piece was inspired by a conversation I had last week and I hope you enjoy it and it's message during these uncertain times . A cardinal is a representative of a loved one who has passed and wants you to know that they're watching over you and that you're not alone, even if you've been feeling as if you're alone in the world. When you see one, it means they are visiting you. They usually show up when you most need them or miss them. They also make an appearance during times of celebration as well as despair to let you know they will always be with you.
If you had told me 6 months ago that I would have an indefinite amount of free time and be given $2,000 monthly with the only stipulation being to self isolate, I would have been over the moon. The creative juices would have exploded. Unfortunately todays reality shows that imagined dreams can actually be a nightmare. I wanted to mark this period, create a piece that would serve as a reminder of this surreal time but did not want it to be dark...With all of the fear, uncertai...nty, suffering and death in the world during this time, it has been hard for me to create something positive. "Looking Forward" will be my reminder of all of the things that I used to take for granted, would complain about and often did not realize the privilege as a middle class Canadian I was afforded. I’m Looking Forward to: Seeing family, friends and work colleagues. Returning to work and not complaining when Monday rolls around. Not being afraid to leave the house. Not hearing updated infected numbers and death counts. Not seeing people wearing masks with fear in their eyes. Those that have been deemed essential workers during this time being paid a LIVING wage. World leaders who follow science. I could go on and on but think you get my drift. Stay well, stay safe and above all remain kind .
