Terrific presentation to the SSWRChamber of Commerce on the importance of Semiahmoo House, inclusive & dynamic housing - empowering disabled people to connect with employers. We all have so much to contribute. @sswrchamber @uniti4all https://www.facebook.com/watch/live/?v=374623500240827&ref=watch_permalink

Why is this Saturday different from all other Saturdays? Because it marks the beginning of Passover. As darkness passes behind us & light continues, let me wish a Happy Passover to everyone. Chag Pesach Samech!

No other level of government impacts us more than city hall. Our city’s budget is $1.2 billion now. Looking out for our city’s taxpayers is a big priority for me and a big reason why I ran for council. https://www.cloverdalereporter.com//and-frankly-rising-ta/

Vancouver has the right idea when it comes to more patios for restaurants right now. Now it's Surrey's turn. Our city's restaurants need more space during social distancing. https://globalnews.ca//vancouver-council-patio-restrictio/

Our local businesses are under stress & the City needs to help. Due to COVID-19 pandemic, if your Business License is due now, Surrey will not apply late or penalty fees until 30 days after the Provincial State of Emergency comes to an end.

I am happy Surrey Council has now granted a 90-day payment extension for any business or residential property taxes - with no late penalties. The 10% penalty after this grace period, in my opinion, is too high in these tough times.

Police transition report may be 455 pages, but facts don’t change: local police force costs more, has fewer officers, and no indication how local police make us safer. https://omny.fm//long-awaited-surrey-policing-transition-r

Wally Oppal spoke this morning at the Surrey Board of Trade and the audience reaction gave a good indication that more and more Surrey residents have serious concerns about the Mayor’s plan for a local police department. The Province must listen to Surrey’s concerns about the proposed police department. Wally got a very good sense of the community’s frustration with the mayor as people demanded more transparency and to know the real costs of the move to a Surrey police department, The more people learn, the more concerns they have and it’s clear Surrey residents want the province to listen to their concerns and to have a real say in policing for their community.

Between cancelling the LRT + the police transition plan, the mayor is spending $168 million of Surrey taxpayer money for NOTHING. What could Surrey do with $168 million?

Council approved introduction of an Ethics Commissioner who will have authority to investigate allegations of ethical misconduct by the mayor & council. This is good news. We should always be accountable for voters. Thanks Jack Hundial

A Council motion to delay police transition process to allow consultation w/ our Indigenous people, who were not consulted as stakeholders, was ruled out of order by the Mayor. We should remember that Surrey is home to the largest number of urban Indigenous people in BC.

Surrey has 550,000 people and we’re growingtransportation options are key. Let’s get on with Uber and Lyft. No more games or roadblocks. Mayor and council need to catch up with the rest of the world and get ride hailing here NOW!!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Kp4Wu7v6wM

The dedication the RCMP have in keeping us safe is something we are forever grateful for. On RCMP Day, Feb 1, make your thanks personal. Post your own thank you video or message & show the Surrey RCMP how thankful we are for their support. Share.
