With temperatures finally out of the deep freeze, many of us are welcoming this reprieve in weather. But did you know that temperature swings like this can caus...e troubles in your home? Make sure you take some time (between getting outdoors) to check out these key areas in your home for signs of trouble. 1. Roof Ice or roof damming can eventually lead to interior leaks when ice forms after the thaw and traps water on shingles, eaves and soffits. 2. Attic During a thaw, like this one, moisture from the exterior of the home can come through the exhaust vents and cause condensation in the attic. When that condensation freezes, it can then create "attic frost. 3. Windows During cold snaps, humidity can get trapped on windows in the form of ice buildup, which melts when temperatures rise. I always tell clients that a flat roof in Alberta is not an ideal situation! More expensive to repair or replace and a lot of work to prepare for significant temperature swings. But they do look cool.in the desert!

The real estate market finished out the year strong with the most sales we’ve seen in the Greater Edmonton Area (GEA) in December since 2007. After a rocky star...t, total sales in 2020 finished 3% ahead of 2019, with single-family homes in the communities outside of Edmonton particularly St. Albert and Sherwood Park seeing the largest gains.
