I make it a rule not to talk about the winter holidays until after All Hallows’ Eve , but this year I wanted to re-vamp my tree while the weather was nice and I just could not resist sharing it with ya’ll! If you have a lame-o lack lustre Christmas tree kicking around that needs a serious make over, get in touch with me for a free quote, or DIY it with my easy to follow directions below ... DIY FLOCKED TREE YOU WILL NEED: 1-2 cans of acrylic white spray paint 1 can ceiling texture spray* OR a bag of fake snow & a can of spray adhesive Assorted sized silver/white glitters 2 cans spray clear varnish/sealant TARP(S) A step ladder P95 mask gloves 1. Tarp a WELL VENTILATED area free from gusts of wind. The tarp should extend at least 2 feet beyond the base of your tree on all sides or you’ll risk getting snow all over the damn places you don’t want it! 2. Set up your tree on the tarp. Arguably this is the longest step as you’ll want to take special care to bend all your branches so they look natural. BE PATIENT & take your time- trust me, everything after this will go by very quickly. 3. Spray each branch with white spray paint, focusing a heavier spray more on the outside edges, and much lighter towards the inside. Snow falls downwards, so sweeping your spray paint from the top down (standing on the ladder) helps to concentrate the heaviest white where it would fall in nature Repeat this all around your tree until you are happy with the coverage. 4. IF YOU ARE USING FAKE SNOW it’s time to spray the adhesive on your tree & sprinkle on that fake snow! Remember that the most natural look comes from sprinkling from the top!! IF YOU ARE USING TEXTURED CEILING SPRAY Follow the directions on the can for your desired texture & ALWAYS shake the shit out of that can! Make sure you test it on your tarp first to make sure it doesn’t glob all over your tree... the first few sprays I did were pretty chunky and not snow like... I found a medium fine spray worked well, and sprayed top down while standing on the ladder. 5. GLITTER TIME!!! Sprinkle that glorious shit on there from the top down: be conservative, go hog wild: whatever makes your heart sing babe- you do you. 6. Seal! Evenly coat all of your newly snow frosted branches with sealant to make sure all that beautiful white stuff sticks on there for good!

I’ve been upcycling furniture for myself for years now and have received so much joy from the creation process and also from the use of each item. My coral chevron chest of drawers has served me well, storing valued art supplies and bringing me a smile every time I look at it. A seafoam chest of drawers currently houses decades worth of my Nannas vintage sewing supplies and reminds me of her strength and kindness years after saying goodbye. Furniture has just as much power to sway your emotions as a photograph. It can be as inspiring and thought provoking as a painting, and it can certainly influence the mood and energy of the space it’s in. I’m beyond excited to take the next step in sharing my artwork with you, now in the form of upcycled furniture. If you have a piece you’d like refinished, let’s chat

Some exploratory acrylic. Playing with different textures and mediums. Using my favourites: kroma acrylics, modelling paste, matte gel, self levelling glaze, crackle, pouring and palette knife.
