Meet Nicole and Amanda! They are our Registered Veterinary Technicians. Both of them graduated from the extensive veterinary technician program and passed their national board exam to become registered. They both continue to learn more every year to keep up with the constantly changing field of veterinary medicine. Amandas favourite part of being an RVT is clinical pathology, helping in emergencies, and sharing all her knowledge while educating clients. She has a huge soft s...pot for kittens, so you can always find her loving and snuggling them when they come in! Nicole loves that every day is different and the learning opportunities are endless. She especially enjoys the nursing aspect of her job by ensuring her patients are comfortable, clean and well loved while they are visiting our clinic for their health concerns with the doctor. Next time you’re in, make sure to say hi to these two great gals! Happy Vet Tech Month
October is Veterinary Technician Appreciation Month! Registered Veterinary Technicians (RVTs) are formally educated and trained professionals working as integral members of the veterinary health care team. Their education provides them with the theory and practical skills essential to deliver a gold standard of veterinary care. A day in the life of a registered veterinary technician includes (but definitely not limited to):... - Animal nursing (placing IV catheters, collecting blood samples, administering medications, etc) - Providing optimum husbandry, restraint and handling - Prepping, monitoring and assisting in surgery - Taking radiographs - Taking dental radiographs and cleaning pets teeth - Analyzing samples in the lab (blood, urine, feces, skin/ear cytology, etc.) - Client Education - Nail Trims, Anal Gland expressions, etc - Provide snuggles and love to pets when their owner can’t be there .and many more things! Amanda and Nicole are one of the friendly faces that greet you outside prior to your pets appointment. Stay tuned for feature posts about each of our lovely vet techs!
Can you guess what Fischer’s favourite thing about the vet visit is? The treats!!
Being a small practice has its perks! RVT Nicole was able to cuddle and comfort Max after his surgery during her lunch break.
We truly appreciate everyones patience and understanding during these unusual times. We understand you would like to be present during your pets appointment, but we would like to assure you that we do our best to keep the exam as comfortable and stress-free as possible! Hunny didn’t even notice her vaccines!

This is Riggs! He was a bit nervous for his first trip to the vet, but quickly realized it wasn’t scary at all! Especially since it involved lots of treats and cuddles! Good Boy, Riggs!
A-Tisket, A-Tasket, a kitten in a basket! Copper was such a brave little guy for his kitten vaccinations today!
Did you know that after the age of 7, dogs and cats are considered seniors? This is Macaroni, the 13 year old one-eyed wonder he visits the vet and has blood tests ran regularly. He was previously diagnosed with diabetes and hyperthyroidism. Although his symptoms were subtle, by running a blood test we were able to diagnose and treat Macaroni appropriately before these conditions became too advanced. Blood tests are key to early detection of disease!
Salty came in today for an exam. She was so relaxed, she just let it all hang out
