A bit of willow fever right now, cold soaked some 3 year old withies in the lake (about a week) and did some weaving with farm folk. Alastair always told me that ever weaver has ‘their’ basket. And I’ve always been attracted to the round ones. I’ve made huge baskets, tiny baskets, and all sizes in between. So naturally if I’m going to skill share - it’s this basket. I’m always amazed at when you start with the same material, how baskets all turn out a little different. These kind of agrarian arts haven’t changed. Willow planted and harvested by hand, baskets woven by hand. I love sharing and working on these skills. Spending time with my youngest off the farm to finish high school, and everytime I come home, I swear Vera thinks I’m someone else till she gets a good big ol sniff of me!

Companionship. Here’s what loyalty looks like. He tolerates the trips to town, the quick jumps into the car when I’m in a hurry, when at the end of the day all he really wants is to be by my side. While he has never really been a protector in the most common sense, he protects in his own way, by loving. By ensuring my daughters have him to snuggle up to when they are having bad days. His sweetness is unmatched, and he looks more and more like a muppet as he grows older. #poodle #vigilantpoodle #love

With rain on the horizon and humidity sitting at 100% in this smoked filled world - it was time to get in as many seed crops as we could. It’s been tough working outside in the smoke - we masked up and persevered. As always working together makes jobs like this all the more enjoyable. Send love to all your farmers still working out in this chaotic weather ensuring you have food to eat and seeds to plant. I feel like we’ve got easy compared to some of the photos I’ve seen of the folks down south harvesting food. The fourth field at Linnaea has been slowly growing in fertility and beauty. The more love and attention you give something the more it responds with awesomeness! Adam divides the crops between production garden and this garden to ensure the right distance for seed saving, and also spreading out the fertility hungry crops! I love these long rows of seed crops - sunflowers!
