The scammers are at it again...will it never let up. My contact from the Post Office is sending reports that the elderly are being targeted to "pay" some outstanding CRA taxes with gift cards. Many, even today are vulnerable especially new immigrants, elderly and such. Please support your neighbors and friends and let them know the CRA will never ask you for payment via Gift Card. If you are ever unsure of the intentions of a caller. Just call back the organization they ar...e from. For example, CRA: 1800 959 8281, they can update you on whatever status your income is at. As well you can assess that information on your MyAccount. ALSO: Charities coming to your door, Alarm sales, Utilities coming to your door.....DO NOT SUPPORT THEM. Politely ask for a website or phone number to donate that way and never give out your credit card number. As much faith as I have in our Federal Government, I can assure you that they are not that well equipped to send "agents" to every household in Canada looking to "arrest" you. Be Safe! Call me if you have questions! 7809028257

Every year is a new year with its challenges and opportunities. This year was exceptionally challenging with the passing of my father in Taiwan and doing taxes remotely, working on several projects, managing his estate (in Chinese...ugh and in a foreign country). Once again Beaumontonians, Edmontonians, people from BC, SK and all the way to NB, Nova Scotia, and Nfld and north to Iqaluit, Yellowknife stepped up and supported our little home business and once again we have gr...own. Sincerely, from my wife Kelsey, Me and our kiddies Taylor, Jackson and Angelyn, Louie (dog) and Fluffy (hamster), thank you for everything. From being patient with us, to having video chats with me in Taiwan!, to dealing with the CRA efile new hours of operation, the well wishes, your prayers, some endless corrections, and refiling and adjustments..... THANK YOU There is no other place that would be this great and it is truly a blessing to live here and be part of it. We will continue to pray for you in these times, commit to doing our best everyday and provide the best value and service we can. As ever, if you have questions, please call, text, message, email, refer people...we love to help. Jeff and Kelsey Lin. 7809028257, 7809647225 [email protected] [email protected] See you soon!!! We re planning a big pig roast for everyone once this pandemic is over and all of you are invited!

Hello friends! As ever the tax season is in full swing! For all of you who have come, or sent in your taxes, THANK YOU it is much appreciated. A fe w item to discuss: Now....may I kindly ask you to come SIGN your taxes!!!! I can't efile them until you do and I am running out of space! LOLOL Just come when you are available, you don't even have to call! But you can if you want 7809647225!... TEACHERS! Don't forget, you get a 1000 dollar supplies credit so keep your receipts! WORKING FROM HOME! I just need to know your employer allows you to claim the T2200S, receipts are better but if you don't have any that's ok, we can do the flat method. SMALL BUSINESSES! If you group your receipts by type (not by month) and don't fold them into origami, it will be faster and cheaper and I won't go nuts....my wife may curse a bit... FARMERS! You have a challenging task but group your receipts too and id them. I can send you a list. Thats it for today! As ever, please continue to refer us, test, email 7809647225 or [email protected]. Always wanting to grow AND don't forget we have a person in Vancouver now too! Sid Small Business and Tax Solutions! Blessings on you ALLLLLLL!

Are you ready? It's almost time....get your receipts together!!! I am talking to you! Ok here are some tips to help your fun, friendly, fat..what?, tax person! 1. Come with all your receipts, tax slips and everything ready! 2. You may notice on your T4 slip this year there is a box 57 and ... 59. Nothing to be alarmed about, this is included in box 14. They will come out before Feb 28, 2021 3. We still are doing email, drop off in the front box and also in person if you need...as you may have more complex taxes you wish to discuss! 4. Appointments! Call my wife Kelsey at 7809647225 to come in person, or just shoot a text at 7809028257 to let me know you are doing a drop-off. 5. Prices have not changed! 65 for personals. 6. I am making a few different baking and charcuterie things but it may not be ready yet...LOL 7. Oh yes so, if you received CERB or a variation thereof, it will come via a T4A and you should have received it already if not very soon. 8. Working from home expenses come as a T2200 for the detailed and T2200S for the simplified. Long and short, for the latter, you don't need the receipts. BOTH still require a signature from the employer! Call, pm, email, text, morris code, smoke signal, peeps me any and all of your questions and I ll do my best to help. 7809028257 Don't freeze! Don't sneeze! Be healthy! Hang in there a little longer, I cant see this pandemic going forever! Blessings on you!

Ack...I should have prefaced this comment. A customer asked what to do when you get a bad review or comment? I would love to say to people that we never a mistake but that is just not a real-life scenario. What we do is put in quality measures that minimize the chances of mistakes being made. (less than 0.1%!) 1. We enter the information supplied.... 2. We ask all the questions associated with, marital status, dependents, businesses, rentals, investments, and employment. 3. When all the info is entered we do a complete final review to check all the information. 4. On an interval basis, we check for updates and releases. 5. Annually, we take the latest tax update course to ensure we have the latest changes issue from the CRA. 6. Lastly, we print collate and have you sign before we send it off If a mistake is made, we will fix it! This is even if you have missed a form or slip, we can make the adjustment. If you get a bad review, try to address it with the customer directly. Getting into a social media battle will never help your plight or theirs. Recognize, everyone has a right to their opinions! Some people love vegetables, and I think they are put here to torture me. Recognize, that a negative review may not be founded in truth or fact but it is someone's perception of a situation. Recognize that we don't understand all the background "things" that are affecting that person. In our case, with the 4 negative reviews, there are values and rules we won't break: - We can not break the law or CRA rules no matter how much one may disagree - If you have a bill, pay it...and yes in a very very few instances they do go to collections - No rude speech or behavior. Especially to my wife and or kids...It is ok to be frustrated, but not to be belligerent. At the end of the day, we are sincerely trying to help and this can be emotional when it comes to financial pressures. As ever, thank you for hearing my blabbering and I will see you soon. Blessings, health and safety on you all!

As we que up for another busy season, there are a number of questions coming in for types of potential tax savings in this new COVID reality. Hopefully, this can answer them: 1. There are no credits for homeschooling. I know there should be but there isn't. Just a new found appreciation for what our educators go through. Thank you. 2. Working from home! IF your employer ALLOWS you to claim expenses! They must fill out and sign form T2200 Statement of Employment Expe...nses https://www.canada.ca//services/forms-pub/forms/t2200.html. AND you must keep the physical receipt!!! 3. There are a number of CERB benefits named under a whole lot of other names. Canada Recovery Benefit, Canada Recovery Caregiving Benefit, Canada Recovery Sickness Benefit, Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy, Canada Emergency Rent Subsidy and even a Canada Emergency Student Benefit. Focus on these criteria: Due to COVID.. 1. I lost my job 2. My business was impacted 3. I could not work, or missed work 4. I had to stay home to look after a child, grandparent, spouse, etc and could not work. Check out this site: https://www.canada.ca//ben/covid19-emergency-benefits.html Remember folks, this is your taxes at work so use it only if you need it. Blessings on you all! I am praying that you all be healthy, safe and prosperous in this year. Even in the darkness, we have much to be thankful for and God will provide! Beaumontonians, I am overwhelmed and not NOT surprised at how we band together from the free food hampers, the driving birthday convoys, the let's drop off food at someone house when they are in quarantine, to free drive-in movies at Eaglemont Church, to boosting peoples cars, to the restaurants giving free meals to supporting local! I am blessed to be part of this city and even more blessed to stand along side you. Cheers everyone...well done!

Weeeeoooooo. Well this last 2 months have been a journey across the world in a new Covid light! Let me tell you travelling is a horribly difficult experience. I have received a few questions non tax related but more business related and I wanted to answer those ones today! First, Travel - what do you need to know. Second, is how to handle negative feedback, comments, reviews, etc. 1. Travelling - BUYER BEWARE! If you have to travel as I had too to Asia to take care of m...y sick dad, there are some precautions you need to know! a. BOOK DIRECTLY with the Airline. This is due to refunds, changes etc, all third party booking companies will NOT help you without considerable pain and cost and in some case not refund you all all. Your credit card company will not protect you. b. COVID test results, you must have the test and result within 3 days of landing in your international location which is mostly impossible. c. You may an Emergency VISA that you may have to get in person in another city or province. d. And don't forget, you get to have a lovely 2 week stay at a Covid hotel in quarantine. (You get to pay for all of it) and another 2 weeks when you get back. IN short don't travel internationally unless you have to! How to handle negative feedback, comments, reviews, etc. in your business? Simply, nothing you are going to say is going to change the outcome but simply as a consumer ASK the company. What is happening today? 1. If a consumer has a great experience they may not always leave a review. 2. Bad consumers are beginning to use reviews to attempt to blackmail companies. This in response to some negative reviews on a google site. What I ask all of you is to be informed before making a judgement. If you are concerned about a review, simple ask the company to explain. At our company, in response to those negative reviews, our answer is we cannot do, or perform any illegal activity which include breaking CRA rules. Secondly, if you do not pay for the services received, we will try every possible measure to resolve with you but in less that 1% cases (total 5 cases in 15 years) they cannot be, they are transferred to a collections company to resolve. If you have questions or would like more information about any review, you just have to ask but we will not publicly argue or in any way try to embarrass people on a public site. We handle each scenario with respects to the customer. There is really nothing more to say on a review. People are entitled to their comments and that is ok! :). Have a great day everyone and I pray blessing on all of you as ever! If need more info on any topic, shoot me a message!

More questions about CERB. So yes everyone treat it like a EI payment. These are taxable and if you have every received EI for Maternity leave or actual Employment Insurance, the tax rate that is taken is about 10-15%. Sooo if you do not tell them at the time of application to increase the tax rate to your normal income, then expect a bill come the new year. (so set some $ aside just in case) Everyone, I pray you are healthy and do not give in to fear and all the media. ... Wash your hands properly. Yes if everyone wears masks it will significantly decrease the % of spreading the virus BUT everyone has to wear them to be effective. - This will be especially important as we begin to open public spaces. Hand sanitizer, masks and lysol wipe are now readily available both on line and in stores. But hey its spring! Family has never been closer! We care about each other more (friends and family)! I am strangely the same weight but I am eating more really good home meals! Kids actually talk to each other...weeeiiiiirrrd. (As a test, shut off your wifi, dataplans, modems, everything for one day....everyone actually survived!) Email and drop off you taxes! We are open technically all the time for that! Top tax return of the year (so far) is 11 years of filing! (for a couple! That's 22 returns! I cannot and will not name names BUT this couple will receive a gift basket in the mail! For you the person that can guess an amount closest to the refund will also receive a gift basket too! Just post it to this ... post. Winner to be announced in 5 days! Praying for all of you!

Lin Small Business and Tax Solutions 13.10.2020

Wowza! There is so much information out there...some if it true and a whole bunch of crap. We are here to help. Ok let's start with the CERB. Canadian Emergency Response Benefit. This is coming as Employment Insurance and if you have ever been on this before, you know that it is never taxes correctly. Please ensure you check the tax rate before you get a surprise next year: https://www.canada.ca//benefi/apply-for-cerb-with-cra.html... Second: Mortage Deferral : A bank is a business. They are not in business to lose money and deferring a loan for 6 months cost money. Essentially if you do this, they will cancel your existing mortgage and change your future rates much higher. (Dont do this if you can hold our as rate are at an all time low and probably will drop again) Globe and Mail excerpt : "customers have been upset to learn that the deferrals are not a true payment holiday, and that the banks continue to add interest to the loan’s principal through the relief period. But bankers point out that the program is designed to help customers with their cash flow in a time of crisis, not to save them money.: Know this: No money from the Government is free. It comes at the expense of your taxes. Any "infusion" , "assistance" and "relief" will come at a cost to all of us in the future. It is designed to help you NOW if you are in CRISIS, and PAY for it long term down the road. We are praying safety and wisdom on all of you. As ever we are here to support! We remain open for tax drop off in our house, no appt needs at 103 Rideau Place! You can email to [email protected] and you can call or text to 7809028257 or my wife Kelsey at 7809028257 Questions are free! Yes you can drop multiple years off! Can wait to meet you....from afar! Blessings! Lin Small Business and Tax Solutions

CO-VID Response ok... Not to feed the maniacal hysteria going on but wanted to share some information and options of what we can do to continue to offer you the best service. What to do: This is about preventing and "breaking" the chain of passing on the flu. Of course, wash your hands, limit contact with groups especially kid groups, limit playdates.... If your ill, go see a medical professional soon as time is a factor. What we can do: 1. A colleague shared a good link to show the reported numbers globally of the co-vid spread. https://gisanddata.maps.arcgis.com//opsdashboa/index.html 2. You can still come over! We have hand sanitizer, toilet paper and lysol BUT that being said, if you are sick or ill please use one of the following. 3. VIDEO options: We can use Facebook, Skype, LINE whatever. 4. You can phone in for your appt. 5. We can send smoke signals, short wave radio, morris code but this will take a much longer and may be misinterpreted. We will be praying for health and safety and keep you updated as this continues. Please be nice to each other. Please use common sense and don't give in to the crazy. Call us anytime: Kelsey 7809647225, and Jeff 7809028257

Lin Small Business and Tax Solutions 10.07.2020

AUDITS and ASSESSMENTS...ugh.. the feared words but here us some good information as to why. 1. Audits and Assessments are not the same thing. In most cases when the CRA is asking you to provide information, this is an assessment. 2. Audits are performed based on risk and understand it is a small portion of ppl compared to all tax filers. What trigger one is repeated errors in a return, indications non-compliance with tax obligations, and comparable tax files look really d...ifferent. It is done to ensure that everyone is being fair on their taxes. More Info at the cra site here : https://www.canada.ca//what-you-should-know-about-audits.h 3. Assessment: The CRA will sometime deny a claim on a refund pending an "assessment". All of us at some point will face like my father being repeatedly assess for his Charitable Donations as he faithfully donated at least 10% of his earnings. As it is frustrating, and you typically receive a mean, threatening letter and they withhold your funds, the fix is relatively simple. Send the receipt, the information, the document they are looking for quickly. Honestly, my customers who come to me for help on these are surprised at what the CRA wanted vs the mean threatening tone of the letter and carry the stress of that burden for a long time. 4. No, the CRA is not always reasonable. But there are options to address like appeals, the Ombudsman and adjustments. 5. Claim what you are allowed to claim and follow the rules. The difference I see in the way I do taxes vs other is I ask as many questions as I can to apply all said rules. I do not break the rules, bend the rules just APPLY all of them in your benefit. When I am unsure I research and call the CRA to get the right answer and record the person I spoke with. 6. When I help people out of these CRA jams, it is usually small fixes. Hope this helps answer some questions. Blessings on you all and see you soon. If you have not booked yet here is the number 7809647225 and my lovely wife Kelsey will set it up. Cheers!

I ll be sending in all the completed ones tonight as EFILE should be ready to go. 2. Deadline for RRSP is closing in a couple days so TOP THEM UP NOW. If you 've chatted with me about RRSPs before now is that time we were talking about when economies are low and the world in disarray...great time to ...invest. YOU KNOW WHY! 3. Business owners, remember there are two of us now looking at your receipts. You can bring your pile but you miiiiight anger my wife boss who has to add them up. 4. Yes, you can bring your kids. 5. No, you can't use bank transactions as receipts 6. Claiming vehicles. It's a good idea to have a mileage log. 7. The price has gone up 5 dollars for personal tax. 8. I don't like vegetables. Celery juice stinks and it does not cure staph infections and the cauliflower pizza crust is crap. Um that's it. That all. Let get some refunds! Ka caw. Boom... yippeeeeeee dooooodle ding dong day. Happy Almost Chinese New Year. Hopefully, you are coming out of your holiday hangovers, starting all the weight loss programs, and making an insurmountable list of resolutions to achieve. Here are some words of encouragement: 1. You do not have to do all those things. Life will go on. 2. HGTV doesn't work around your kids' schedule. Heck with the projects.... 3. Take time for yourself to do nothing. Your family will scrounge whatever for dinner. You get wine for dinn...er. On a serious note: 1. FAKE CRA, Canada Post and a whole schwack of calls and emails are still going around. Don't pay, give ANY personal or financial information what so ever. 2. The CRA efile site is down for maintenance until Feb 24 so I cant efile until then. 3. It's a great time to pile and gather your invoiced together so your tax guy and gal don't blow a gasket. 4. All of you who have not done your taxes in years....just get over here...sigh 5. Assessments, and Audits, we re here to help...seems the CRA is on a rampage over simple things this year. PS...I am making potstickers tonight lol...I might save you some... Blessings on all of you!

Starting A Business...or Thinking of One. Start with Why, What and then How. I get ask repeatedly about people thinking of starting a business and honestly the HOW is not really that difficult. Have a product or service that people want, have a vehicle to sell it, have a vehicle to tell people about it, insure it, and then go. The more importand question I ask is why? Why are you wanting to start your own business? 1. You have a passion for something (the best way)... 2. You want to make lots of money (not such the best way but is a motivator) 3. You hate your boss and job and working for the man. (Yes this is a non so good reason too but it can also be a motivator) 4. Your bored and selling Sentsy, Pampered Chef, Silpada, Young Living will keep you busy and maybe provide some income (It mostly wont, but you get discounted products) Once you have the why figured out (dont take this lightly, spend most of your time thinking about this) then think WHAT. 1. What does the business look like in your mind - ideal state? 2. What are the costs? 3. What are the processes? 4. What, what, what ,what ,and more what, Lastly is the how...which is where some creative parts are needed (this is where I shine at helping). Finally, after the buisness is up, how to we make this biz into a powerhouse of awesomeness (my other skill) Before I go into more ranting...if you need some help. Give me a shout! 7809028257

Well...wouldn't you know it...July 2019...And taxes are still coming in! That's ok we are here to help. Reflecting on this business year after year, who would have thought it was going to grow as it has? What I am really thankful for is the relationships we have endured together along the journey. Sometimes I see you once a year, in other times, on a regular basis but what a blessing that you have allowed me and my family to journey with you through so many different exper...iences. Who would have thought that taxes...yes taxes can do that. Next year, we will try to start incorporating US Taxes and Larger Business while still keeping the same relationships. Yes it challenging and yes we will bring on new people who spcialize in those areas but we will be rigourous in the search for the right person with the right values! You are always welcome to come by for a coffee, drink, candy, baking or charcuterie or what ever else we are making that day. Apparently the wine fridge was a hit this year...lol...wait a sec...do I need a liquor license? Anyways, if we haven't met you, we would like to, if we know you then we will see you soon, if you have questions, call anytime and ever thank you so much for the referrals, your business, and the frendships! See you soon!
