"Whether you’re in an intense jumping lesson with your trainer or casually hacking on your own, we teach our horse every time we sit on it. What’s important is ...that we use this super power for good! It’s just as easy to train your horse bad habits as it is good ones, and these often happen when we flat on our own." See more
So proud to offer this wonderful horse ...
Every athlete has their own recipe for that moment right before they begin. What is your back gate routine?

I was scared today. I was scared to get on, scared to walk out the yard because I had a bad ride the day before. One bad ride, and it made me scared. I didn’t... know why. I’ve had 1000 bad rides. I’ve had 1000 falls. I’ve broken bones and bruised my pride on countless occasions, but today I was scared. Why? Because confidence is fragile. It takes months and years to build and seconds to lose and yet we are so careless with it. When we get on a horse, we wear a hat to protect our head. We wear body protectors, gloves, boots... We pay so much attention to protecting ourselves physically, we forget that our minds are not invincible, and our confidence certainly is not. Your bank of confidence needs regular deposits, not just from others... but from you. Self confidence is the most valuable currency in life. When you go to get on, and you hesitate, you falter and you start to ask yourself can I do this?, chances are, your account is almost empty. Every time you laugh and say oh no, I’m no good or so and so is 10x better than me, you make a withdrawal from that account, and before you know it, your account is empty and you’re scared to get on. But every time you say I’m really pleased with how that went or I think I rode that really well, your balance increases. We need to learn to give ourselves a break, pat ourselves on the back and allow ourselves to feel proud of where we are - after all, most of the time we’ve worked bloody hard to get there! Recognising your strengths is just as important as recognising your weaknesses. Never allow yourself or anyone else to empty that account. Confidence is valuable, don’t bankrupt yourself.
We love our friends at 1909 Culinary Academy, the food they make and all they do for the community
I have a few words to say about judging hunters. Or maybe it's a few corrections to some things I keep seeing on the internet. Misconception #1: "Judges reward... horses who go around like zombies, because that's what they like watching." Truth: We can only judge what you put in front of us. We are not in charge of how fast you're going. The fact is, it's about the jumps. If a horse with a slower cadence jumps beautifully and is ridden accurately, then yes, it's definitely going to place higher than a horse at a gallop, who jumps poorly and inconsistently. But the truth is, many of the hunters today are on the slow side. That's not because it's what the judges want to see, it's because that's what a lot of you can ride. So, there's that. Misconception #2 "Judges won't pin a thoroughbred." Truth: Every judge I know, including myself, loves thoroughbreds. What we don't love is watching them scamper around in too much bridle and not get down the lines. If you walk in the ring on a good thoroughbred, and put in a great trip, you'll win. So, do that. Misconception #3 "Hunter judging is very political." Truth: Every judge I have ever sat with wants every horse and rider who walks in the ring to win. It is way more fun to watch great rounds than bad rounds. And I personally know how hard it is to produce good rounds, so I really want that for you. Are there judges out there that consider the rider and trainer over the actual quality of the round? Probably. But it's not most of us. Most of us are rooting for you. Misconception #4 "Hunters should have standardized scoring and judges should sit with a scribe." Truth: There are actually plenty of standardized scores in hunters. Major faults are assigned compulsory scores. But here's the thing, and there's really no way of getting around it. When you do the hunters, you're asking a (hopefully) very well qualified and interested professional to give their opinion on your rounds. An opinion that's based on a lifetime of being immersed in the horse world. An opinion that is unbiased, and doesn't take your feelings or your checkbook into account. I don't want to sit with a scribe and do mathematical equations, and talk through your round. I want to watch you ride. I want to watch your horse jump. I want to give you my honest opinion about what it looked like to me in that particular 2 minute time frame. That's the cool thing about hunters. It's not about an exact number, or a clock. It's about someone watching your horse and appreciating it. If you want a math problem, go do the jumpers. And that's all I got to say about that. #ilovehunters See more

I am going to tell you two of the biggest secrets to success in the quest to become a better rider--- They are incredibly simple, but they are easy to avoid, wh...ich can lead you to wondering why it didn't happen. 1. Show up. Day by day, week by week, month by month, year by year, decade by decade. Show up, get on, and ride. 2. Assume that what you are doing can and should be improved. Read, study, take lessons, practice, be open to the idea that doors can open to a better world at any given time.
On Thanksgiving, I'd like to thank those who trusted us with their special horses on lease this year. Victoria had a great summer with Zowey from Findaway Equestrian Services. She is a super mare. Michelle Raepple's lovely Bella was born with us, has grown up here, and I'm thrilled that she and Sophia will have another year together. Diane Griffett, it was great to get to know Rion and work again with Meag, and we look forward to seeing him shine with VECTOR EQUESTRIAN. And last but most definitely not least, Natalie and Georgia had a fantastic summer with Bethany Sloggett's Murphy and we know he will have a great year with the Parish Ridge Stables crew. I am grateful to have had the opportunity to work with each of these horses and their people. :)
Happy 7 year anniversary to my favourite fun day mount, and the best spotted horse I know. So glad that Lori Anne found you ... a perfect pairing. <3
