Researchers have long claimed that listening to classical music can help us to perform tasks more efficiently. This theory suggests that listening to classical composers can enhance brain activity and act as a catalyst for improving health and well-being. Various studies have confirmed that it enhances one's ability to manipulate shapes and solve spatial puzzles, as well as help students perform 12% better on their exams. In addition to bringing us together to enjoy and discuss (in regular times!), classical music enhances empathetic response. A performance can convey emotion without the need for words, making it especially powerful across different ages, backgrounds and languages. What emotions are conjured for you with Albinoni’s Adagio? Studies have found that classical music enhances memory retrieval, including in those struggling with Alzheimer's and dementia. The thought is that the classical music helps fire off synapses, creating or re-energizing brain pathways previously left dormant. Studies have particularly shown a strong link between music, memory, and emotion. This suggests that by heightening our emotional state, music helps us to remember better. Enjoy this emotional performance of Mozart'...s Clarinet Concerto K.581 in A Minor. It's performed by the Iceland Symphony Orchestra, with conductor Cornelius Meister: https://youtu.be/YT_63UntRJE #healthandmusic #memory #mozart #clarinet #classicalmusic #pressplay #vancouverclassicalmusic #sinfonia #lionsgate #northvan See more
