New Weekly segment, our Brewery Profiles. Our first profile is on our friends at Fernie Brewing Company. Q: Tell me the quick history of ..... Brewing Company In 2003 the Pask family, long-time residents of Fernie, had a dream of their own to bring the brew back to the small rocky mountain coal mining town. They did just that, setting up a Brewery in their family barn. It was the start of things to come.... In 2007 we relocated to our existing building, designed and built from scratch. With constant growth, Brewhouse expansion, new products and revamped recipes, we distribute a wide range of products throughout BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan and into Manitoba. As we continue to grow, we’ll never forget our roots. It’s as simple as Good Beer from a Good Town. Q: How many people do you guys employ? We're a team of approx. 50 people across the team working at the brewery here in Fernie and our Sales teams across BC and AB. Q: How much beer do you guys make per year? Not sure of our most recent volumes...but we're growing every year thanks to loyal support, our fantastic brewers and hard working team. Q: How many different kinds of beer to you sell? At any one time, around 12 different types. We have our Year-Round brews that are always available, then we have our Seasonal beers, the Sour Series and IPA Series plus Barrel Aged Series. So there's always something new and fresh brewing. Q: Where is your beer available? BC, AB, SK and MB. Q: How do you come up with new flavors? Our brew team are incredibly creative, talented and invested in their craft, so are constantly trying new things as pilot brews and researching new hops and flavours. Q. What’s the style most fun to brew? Hard to say what's the most fun to brew, but the brewers are always excited to work on something new. We have three new brews in the works... that's all I'll say right now but keep an eye out for new beers coming this year. Q. What is your favourite beer? The team is a big fan of the Finish Line Hazy Pale, plus lots of us are massive fans of the Dark Horse Black Currant Sour that released just before Christmas.
