I'm feeling hopeful and grateful on this Friday morning. Grateful that the most vulnerable among us are being vaccinated - and for the scientific community that made it possible. And hopeful for what's to come. We're not out of the woods yet but brighter days are coming, friends - I can feel it

I recently had the pleasure of consulting with the Student Advisory Committee on the strategic plan I'm working on for the University of Calgary's Department of Community Health Sciences. The students brought diverse perspectives and felt strongly that health is a right that everyone must have access to if we are to have a healthy society. I am so grateful for their perspective and have total trust in their ability to create an equitable and inclusive future. 2021 marks the 100th Anniversary of the Canadian discovery of insulin but, a century later, we are still losing too many loved ones to this disease. Which is why I am so proud to be working with Diabetes Canada to help end diabetes. It is truly an amazing feeling to know that my work is helping to save lives. Mom, I’m thinking of you #DiabetesCanada

This 'tip' is at the top of my leadership checklist - because it is *so* important to have people in your corner who will cheer you on especially when you are trying something new. I'm lucky enough to have some in my corner - and have learned that the best way to find your cheerleaders is to be one for others

If I've learned anything from my work with not-for-profit leaders, it's how challenging it is to articulate a vision, drive change, deliver results and satisfy the needs of a board especially when resources and strategic capacity are scarce (as they so often are). I call this phenomenon the ‘CEO squeeze’ and it’s my mission to relieve that pressure for my clients.
