For my Clarington Friends and Clients. Did you forget to put your Christmas Tree out this morning for curbside pickup? If so, you can also put it out next Monday morning by 7am for pickup. However...please consider donating your real tree to a local animal sanctuary or rescue as many accept these as healthy treats for their animals. Goats and Pigs pine needles and they are full of Vitamin C! You can also put the tree in your backyard for the birds to nest in and other wildlife to find habitat over the harsh winter.

This fundraiser was purely agent driven, with all donations co...ming from our very own agents. With the funds raised for this local initiative, we supported Clarington East Food Bank, Simcoe Hall Settlement House, Salvation Army Whitby and Community Care Durham. This has been an incredibly challenging year for so many and I am extremely thankful to RE/MAX Hallmark to also provide additional support in our local communities above and beyond this turkey drive, to the tune of $100,000 across all of the regions we service. September statistics are in and the numbers are telling me a few things. First of all, not surprisingly, our average sold price just keeps rising and we are seeing increases across the board, both over the same time last month as well as year-over-year. But the number also tells me, we still do not have enough inventory for the current demand of qualified, active buyers, especially in Cornwall, where are months of inventory are very low and we’re not seeing the increase in li...stings that we need. I have always felt extremely proud of the amount of money raised and work done in raising awareness for local charities by my fellow colleagues. There are two things I know for sure about Realtors. The Realtor's I know, work extremely hard... The Realtor's I have had the pleasure of working with give back a lot of their hard-earned money to local charities. Especially when we're having fun, we dig deep into our pockets to donate to a good cause. Today was no exception, and while we all learned a ton during our virtual National Sales Conference, during the span of a very short 4 hours, we had already raised $10,150 for the Royal LePage Shelter Foundation. And we're not done. Realtor's across RLP will continue to donate through our "RLP Got Talent" showcase site throughout the week and our goal is $25,000. It was a lot of fun to see my colleague's talents showcased on screen during the conference, but even better was that it was all for a good cause. Thank you to my colleagues for continuing to be amazing stewards of giving back.

May stats are in and I'm feeling very optimistic! The numbers are showing that we are moving in the right direction for a healthy market, seeing increases in all areas (# of units sold, average sold price and # or new listings) from the same time last month. It is not surprising that we are down in sold units and new listings from the same time last year, especially when this is typically our busiest time of year, but I'm very happy to see a healthy sold price average in both Cornwall and the surrounding SDG Counties. In fact the average sold price has increased year-over-year, and that's a good sign. What a fantastic initiative!

With many of us at home, the temptation of taking on home projects is very real! But finances may have you daydreaming instead of doing. Keep the pocket book in check with these inexpensive DIY projects from HGTV... ...(I'm not going to lie, I will not be attempting to remove popcorn ceilings or applying peel & stick wallpaper anytime soon...but shiplap and garden lights, oh my! )

Real Estate is very much alive, which means we are continuing to work safely for our clients so they can move on with what they need to in their lives. In Cornwall alone, we currently have 73 properties listed for sale with over a quarter of them already conditionally sold. Consider this...23 properties sold in the last 2 weeks alone. That's an average of 1.6 per day. It may not be where we were last year at this time but it is a big increase from the 8 properties that sold... in the same two weeks last month. At that time, we were all very anxious. We still are. It's not easy to make the decisions we need to in a health crisis like this. But I am so proud to be able to continue to work safely, provide professional advice and counsel and to serve my clients with their health and safety, including their financial safety, as my #1 priority. I will be doing a further dive into the May numbers once we have all of the data, but in the meantime, if you have any questions at all, please don't hesitate to reach out. Indoor Spring Upkeep 101 While we had a sneak peek of warmer weather this past weekend, the wind has turned a tad chillier. This is a great time to think about how indoor upkeep is as important as preparing your garden for spring. Freshen rooms, remove allergens, and brighten the look of these five areas:

It's been very interesting analyzing April's market data for Cornwall and the SDG Counties. While it's still early into what would have been our Spring Market, it's clear that Cornwall is being very cautious, with both the number of sold units down month-to-month and year-over-year as well as the number of new listings down from last month, the average sold price is not dropping too significantly. May's data might tell us a bit more of the story if prices start to drop, how...ever I remain optimistic that we will not see a significant decrease. Interestingly, the surrounding SD&G Counties are seeing a healthy number of new listings (up 70.4% from last year) and the average sold price is not seeing major fluctuation, however the number of sold units is down -34.6% from the same time last year. While I cannot tell you what the market will look like post-Covid-19, I can certainly continue to provide market data, as it becomes available. The more knowledge you have, the more informed decisions you can make.
