I have to say I have been missing teaching all my classes every week, and connecting with all my yogi friends. Doing my practise during covid has been a blessing. Friday Night join in the Zoom Room Yin yoga with Yoga Nidra. This class consists of stretching postures. Postures are restful and held for long periods of time,... up to 4 minutes. The long, passive holds activate the parasympathetic nervous system (our rest and digest system), and work to soften and stretch our deepest layers of tissue, the fascia. After 45 minutes of blissful Yin yoga experience the relaxing session of Nidra yoga. Nidra means consciuos sleep, and is described as the mental state between wakefulness and sleep. Yogis lay on their backs and are guided through a methodical relaxation series. As mental and physical rest begins, you are invited to give themselves a positive affirmation or suggestion to meditate on throughout the exercise. The class ends in blissful, relaxed silence. Winter is a wonderful time for Restorative yoga. This healing yoga is a powerful antidote to stress because it down-regulates the sympathetic nervous system and up-regulates the parasympathetic nervous system, which is responsible for rest, digestion, energy conservation and slowing the heart rate. Third Chakra: Solar Plexus: Manipura Power, Stability, Perseverance Many people sense a pang in their stomachs when something is simply not right. We often experience our inner instinctual guidance system through feelings that seem to arise from our third chakra.... Theres a reason we call this a gut reaction, and by all means it is a very important message to listen to. We can develop the sensitivity to truly listen to what the gut is expressing.
