Due to the Listuguj Mi’gmaq Government closure today, October 16, 2020, the Listuguj Post Office will be closed to the public. First Confirmed Case of COVID-19 in Listuguj October 15, 2020 Please be advised that the Listuguj Mi’gmaq Government will be closed Friday, October 16, 2020, except for critical services (e.g. Gignu, LPD, LFD, etc.). If you are required for work, your Director/Immediate Supervisor will contact you.... On the evening of October 15, 2020, Quebec Public Health notified the Listuguj Mi’gmaq Government that a community member tested positive for COVID-19. Quebec Public Health will conduct contact tracing and contact people who have been in close contact with the individual who tested positive. The Listuguj Community Health Services will provide support to families directly affected. Contact tracing is currently underway. Those who have been in close contact with the individual QC Public Health will contact you, and you will be asked to self-isolate and monitor for symptoms to limit any potential spread. The individual who tested positive is self-isolating, and their health will be monitored by public health. Due to the nature of this pandemic, it was inevitable that we would eventually see a confirmed case in our community. However, we are fortunate that Listuguj is prepared. Our government will continue to take action and enact additional measures to limit the virus’s potential spread. We want to remind our community members and residents that what we need now more than ever is to practice mindfulness and compassion. The virus is a disease that does not discriminate. On behalf of the Listuguj Mi’gmaq Government, we wish this community member a swift and full recovery. At this time of stress, it is important to practice patience and understanding. Further to Tuesday’s COVID-19 update, this message is to inform Listuguj residents that an employee (non-community member) of the Listuguj Community Health Services has tested positive for COVID-19. The employee is currently self-isolating, and we are wishing them a speedy recovery. As stated in Tuesday’s update, Public Health is conducting contact tracing, and some community members may be contacted to determine next steps. These next steps could include COVID-19 testing or... additional protective measures. As an extra precaution, we will be implementing a ‘rotational’ schedule for clinics so the community has the least disruption possible. Please contact the Health Center to schedule your appointments during the morning hours beginning October 19, 2020. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause our clients. Please understand that we are implementing these measures to ensure the continued safety of our staff, clients and community residents.
