Today we celebrate Día de Reyes by eating Rosca de Reyes, best enjoyed with some and hot chocolate. Rosca means wreath and reyes means kings. Rosca de Reyes is an an oval shaped cake to symbolize a crown and has a small doll inside, which represents baby Jesus. The cake is decorated with dried and candied fruits to symbolize the many jewels that a crown would have. Honor and respect to all who have served for us and still do. My grandpa returned from the war, where he actually served as a cook. I was only little when I knew him, but I don’t remember anyone talking much about his service. When I was a teenager, I was an army cadet for a few years. Every Remembrance Day we went to the local legion ceremony, where we stood at attention for hours. It was tough standing there so still for so long, sometimes in the rain. Being young, I wo...uld complain how tired I was and my officers would remind me of how little pain and sacrifice it is for me to stand for a few hours when men and women lost their lives.
