, The reason behind is simple. As a RECE, a teacher & a mom my love for literacy is strong. Literacy is not simply the ability to read and write, but rather the ability to use these skills and communicate effectively. In modern society and our globalized world, literacy is far more diverse than simply reading a book and understanding what we have read. Digital literacy, for example, is the ability to understand and use informa...tion across multiple formats from computers to the internet and cellphones. Literacy is a fundamental human right and the basis for any individual’s ability to learn. It is essential for children’s development and provides the individual the skills and empowers them to transform their lives and imagination. My inspiration - all my students, but more importantly my daughter, Everleigh. While I didn’t want to just simply use her name - the word just made sense (syllables included).
