I agree with this Where is the accountability? Teachers graduating from bachelor of education programs are not being trained on the science of reading.... Where does that leave our kids? People become teachers to TEACH and to make a difference. Let’s equip them to do just that, not just for some, but all of their students!

When looking for tutoring/ reading remediation for your child with dyslexia, it is important to look for something evidence-based. There are many places and methods that claim to help children with dyslexia. This article talks about the issues with Davis Method, which has gained some popularity. If you have been following this page, then you know popular doesn't always equate to effective. Fountas and Pinnel level reading is very popular but not effective. ... Before you pay thousands in tutoring for your child, make sure you follow the science. https://lizditz.typepad.com/i_speak_//a-civilized-dis.html

Here is another video explination showing the problem with early leveled readers and pattern books. So what should you use? Decodable books are absolutely the best choice for children who are learning to read. Can you just pick up a decodable book and have the student read it? Only if the student have been explicitly taught the phonetic patterns in the book. You teach first using systematic phonics and then use decodable readers to provide practice with that newly acquired ...skill. Decodable books are ONLY decodable if the student has been explicitly taught to decode what's in the book. https://youtu.be/6169eXecyNw
