We have a dedicated homework station in our family room but it can get out of control fast. Click through to read about the systems I have in place to battle kid clutter!
Hello Saturday! I have a few chores I am working on around the house this morning, some kid shuttling to activities this afternoon and then a pedicure and dinner out to celebrate a dear friend's birthday...a pretty good line up in my books! What do you have on the agenda for today? @tracey_ayton
check out this basement bathroom makeover - color blocking on the walls and the re-painted vanity are the showstoppers in this room, but the new accessories go a long way to making this makeover pop!
In honor of the kids heading back to school this week, I am sharing the details of our kids homework station on my blog, as well as some tips for keeping things organized! Love this amazing powder room transformation!
This looks like a fun thing to try!

Studio McGee for Target has a new stuff launching this Fall...so sad I can't shop any of this beautiful stuff!
After a crazy week and a covid scare - the test came back negative this morning, whew - my 3 kiddos are FINALLY back to school today. After having them home for so long, it feels kinda strange. I am working on a blog post about our homework station that I hope to publish later today. Here is a throw back picture of all 3 of them using this family desk space...my how they have grown since this was taken. Excuse me for a minute while I do some ugly crying! @feliciachangphoto
I have been in kind of a nesting mode this past week, I guess in preparation for the upcoming school year. I had the house to myself for a few days this weekend and I cleaned, purged, re-organized and moved furniture like a madwoman. It felt so so good! There were a few that have been driving me crazy for months that I just hadn't had time to deal with, like our -- . It had become a dump zone for stuff that we no longer needed, or stuff that was br...oken, or stuff that we wanted to sell on craigslist but hadn't gotten around to listing... ! I had my first experience with @1800gotjunk and it was honestly life changing. Within an hour, all of the stuff that was weighing me down mentally was magically gone, it was amazing. Is there an area in your home that is driving you crazy and if so, why? Tracey Ayton Photography See more
Love the color palette of this rug from Ruggable.
Even though it's September, the weather report for the next week looks amazing...lots of sunny skies! If you are looking for a fun place to visit, check out my friend Carolyn's adorable lake front town home at Sproat Lake. It's listed on @airbnb and still has some availability for the next few weeks. You can get the link by going to my blog and clicking the "Lake House Decor" post. DM me if you want me to send you the details!
- local maps, and photographs of cities you have visited are a great way to add personality to your home and help it to tell your story. These items are also usually very budget friendly! This week on the blog I shared a decorating plan I came up with for a family that has just moved to Vancouver from San Diego. I went on Etsy and searched "San Diego photography" and found so many great photos. You can usually get a digital download, have it printed and stick it in an IKEA frame, and then you have an affordable gorgeous piece of art with sentimental meaning. We have a gallery wall going up our staris, consisting of black and white photos from places we have visited. @tracey_ayton
For today's #moodboardmonday I am excited to share a collage from a new series I am launching on my blog. " " . I am kicking off this new feature with my friend Sarah who has relocated back to North Vancouver from San Diego, CA. Sarah, her husband and their two small children have moved into a new twon home and they were in need of some new furniture. She sent me some photos of her space and I came up with a decorating plan for her. To see my recommendations and my source list, go to the link in my bio and click "read my blog".
16 years ago today, this beautiful little soul came into the world and stole my heart @kallum.hansen I am so honored to be your mom, I love you more than words can say and feel so proud of the young man you are. You are the gentlest of giants and make me laugh every day. Even though you are a whole foot taller than me, you are still my baby! Happy Birthday buddy, love you so much!
A little TBT photo of my son's lego inspired bedroom from 8 years ago in our previous home. I am feeling a little nostalgic because my "baby" boy turns 16 tomorrow ... I honestly can't believe how fast the time has gone and I might be shedding a few tears tomorrow behind closed doors. Do any other parents out there get a little sad when their kids turn a year older, or am I just a crazy person? @kiaporterphoto
Happy International Dog Day! These two fur babies bring us so much joy, and life is never dull with them around! When I saw the I hope you like dogs door mat from @indabatradingco I added to cart immediately! Trying to get a photo of these two on the rug was quite the challenge... lets just say it involved A LOT of pepperoni and re-positioning! Swipe left to see the process @ North Vancouver, British Columbia
I have been really busy with new clients lately, which is so exciting. " " ' . There are two options available, but the idea is that I come over to your house, or facetime call with you, and / . - Let your home tell your story by including sentimental items, photos and handed down treasures in your decor. The vintage fishing rod hanging on the wall of this Lakefront townhome belonged to the owner's great grandfather. Not only does it look really cool on the wall, but it ties the family history into the space. I have my grandfather's suitcase on display in my bedroom and it makes me happy every time I see it because I remember when he traveled from Barrie, Ontario by bus to visit us in Victoria when I was a kid. That must have been a 4 day trip, at least! Do you have any sentimental items on display in your home?
Today's #moodboardmonday was inspired by my friend Carolyn's Lakefront townhome. I love how she used white as her foundation and then added using throw pillows, artwork and other textiles. I am sharing , to see photos of this adorable space, click the blog link in my profile. Also, this townhome is listed on Air BNB for anyone looking to book themselves a little gettaway! : couch and coffee table - @ikeacanada faux fiddle... tree - @worldmarket area rug and pillows - @tonicliving artwork - @juniperprintshop candle - @target See more
This post has totally inspired me to give our linen closet an overhaul. I love the decals made to look like wallpaper!
Great organizing tips for a small and awkward closet!
During the summer months we like to make the most of our backyard. We eat as many meals as we can outside and today I am sharing some tips for dining al fresco! Click through for the details!
Sunday morning at our house means waffles. My youngest reminds me every Sunday morning, before my eyeballs fully open!
I love the look of board and batten ...looks easy enough to try, now I need to find a wall!
I love this vintage map that my friend used on the wall of her lakeside home. If you have a big wall space that you aren't sure what to do with, a map is an easy, budget-friendly option!
If you love throw pillows, this is a gorgeous way to use them to style your bed!
Love the dark blue walls in this guest room!
Happy Birthday Stella! I cant believe my baby is 11!
My friend Carolyn has a strong throw pillow game, and I loved this "Happy Camper" pillow on her Living Room sofa. Camping was for sure the most popular vacation this summer thanks to Covid, and we had a fun time RV-ing at Miracle Beach this summer (that's about as "camping" as I get). Comment below with your fave camping spot!
Remembering back to last week when I was on holiday and had time to read! I finished American Dirt and it was so good- not the lightest of subject matter but an amazing read. What's on your reading list this summer?
Last week we stayed at the cutest townhome on Sproat Lake. My decorator friend Carolyn (who owns the place with her husband Leigh) has done such a wonderful job with the space, and is letting me share it on my blog. Here's a sneak peek of the living room. I love the vintage wall decor and hello shiplap!
I am back from a week of lake time and ready to conquer the upcoming week ahead. I have a client consult to finish, an "Ask a Decorator" in home visit and a blog post to publish. Then we are off to Whistler for a long weekend, our last fun getaway planned for this summer. , ?
We arrived home yesterday from a week on , . I am so grateful for the vacation and I already miss the view from the place we were staying. Have you had any fun adventures so far this summer?
The coup style dishes from IKEA are just as pretty as ones you might find at a more expensive retailer like Pottery Barn or Crate and Barrel. They are timeless basics that won't break the bank!
"throw pillows are the stuffed animals of grown women"...the first time I read that I laughed and nodded my head in agreement. I love throw pillows so much because they are such a budget friendly way to add style and personality to your space. I recognize that picking the right ones for your sofa can be daunting - how many should I put on my sofa, what size do I need, how do I mix colors and patterns? If you find yourself in pillow paralysis, I can help. Send me a DM to learn more about my "Ask a Decorator" consultation packages. I have 2 options available to help you with your decorating challenges and questions.
