I wanted to share this photo this morning, because it looks like how I want to remember myself as a mother. It is a visual reminder to myself of the mother that I want to be. The soft one, who gazes gently into her children’s eyes and softly touches their chin, as if what they’re saying is the most captivating thing. And that mother is here, within me, while also breaking forth is a whole new page of mothering. This stage is breaking me all over again. Irritable, selfish, fru...strated, annoyed, touched out. She’s all there. The tender, the captivated, the gentle, the annoyed, the good, bad and ugly. I surrender again to a God who sees me, all of me, and loves me. And it’s painful. It’s painful to be stretched. It’s painful to feel the weight of hormones and a pandemic and vulnerabilities, and fatigue, and know that I am not my best right now. But I surrender. One day at a time, sometimes hour by hour, we do the next thing. Lay the baby down to nap, wash the dishes, wash my face, and so the day goes. Lord give me all that I need to be your hands and feet today. . @katiebenfeyphoto . . . . . #motherhoodunplugged #motherhoodunited #pandemicmotherhood #letthekids #canadianfamily #princesspoint #hamontphotographer See more

Shop update TODAY at 8pm EST. I wanted to show you the shirt that started it all! When I started sewing 3 years ago, I didn’t have much of a plan for the remnants of beautiful fabrics, and would purchase fabric separately for my embroidery business. As I’ve taken to sewing more of our family garments, and learned more about my own creative habits, I’ve been so enjoying using these remnants to make scrappy quilts for my kids, project bags, and of course, embroidery collections.... The dusty rose collection was made from remnants of this 100% linen (from @needlework_hamilton ) which I sewed up this #athinatop with. The pattern is free, by @tessutifabrics ! I hope to make up another version in a thrifted plaid flannel for the cooler weather! . . . . . #reclaimedfabric #reducereuserecycle #imakemyclothes #scrapbustingproject #embroiderycollection #smallshopcanada #handmadechristmas2020 #stonewashedlinen #tessutipatterns #isewmyclothes #embroideryinstaguild #stitchersofig #damngoodstitch See more

Shop update will be this Friday, featuring the dusty rose collection! As you know I’ve been trying to reduce textile waste, and I love when I have gorgeous remnants like this 100% linen from a garment I’ve made myself. So far there are 8 new pieces in this collection that will be joining the website on Friday, as well as a few other favorites. . . . .... . . . #stitchersofig #damngoodstitch #embroideryinstaguild #dmcthread #handmadegiftsarethebest #shopsmallcanada #cutfromnwcloth #modernembroiderymovement #reclaimedfabric #stitchersofinstagram See more

Reading your responses last week to my question what projects do you like to see made me feel so honoured to have this space, and that each of you are here to support my business and me as an individual. Can I tell you a secret? Not a single piece of mine sold on Saturday, a very successful little market. At the beginning of this business I would have thrown in the towel and not really picked up embroidery again. And I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a little discouraged, but... the truth is, there’s a lot of factors that go into a sale like that, especially for a niche item like embroidery. I’ve priced things at a rate that values my time and my experience, and I know that one market does not reflect my entire business. That being said, I do want to pivot a little. Seeing your responses and knowing that people here are happy to follow along in my creative pursuits as a busy stay at home mom, sneaking in a few rows of knitting between burping the baby on my hip while teaching my son how to hold a pencil to write the letter p; inspires me to just keep going. I’ll be continuing to make things that are beautiful to me because goodness knows the world needs more beauty right now. I’ll keep ebbing and flowing with the rhythms of my family and my mental health first. And I’ll keep making pieces to share and sell as that in itself is an exciting way for me to contribute to the world outside this home, and to contribute financially to our family. All this to say, Thankyou for being here. Thankyou for being on this journey with me as I navigate small business life as a stay at home mom. Thankyou for encouraging me when I make 0 sales and celebrating with me when I succeed in business goals. Thankyou for sharing, liking, commenting! . . . . . . #kalleshirtdress #imakemyclothes #creativeliving #craftymama #handmadeoutfit #handmadeeveryday #memadeeveryday #smallbusinessmama #cutfromnwcloth See more
