A few clips from a high angle setup I experimented with during my shoot in Dubai. It worked out quite well especially in situations where a drone is either not permitted, too long to setup, or a safety hazard. . Coming up with unconventional solutions to achieve shots that would normally be impossible without a larger crew and an elaborate/expensive setup while operating solo has always been a part of the job that I’ve enjoyed. One of the biggest challenge I’ve too often face...d over the years is finding ways to be creatively ambitious while working within the constraints of budget, time and logistics. I once heard that to be a good filmmaker, you need to be a good problem solver. After over a decade in the business, I think the saying still holds very true. . . . Sunset & sunrise timelapse of the @burjkhalifa. At 828 meters tall, this building in Dubai is currently the tallest skyscraper in the world. If seeing it in person wasn’t impressive enough, I was lucky to get a clear view of it from my hotel room. Setting up this shot from my balcony was an obvious decision. . On a personal note, if I’m being completely honest, I didn’t really know what to expect from my first trip to the UAE. Between some over-the-top glamour and the scorchi...ng heat of the desert sun, it can be somewhat difficult to figure this place out at first.
