Little Steps Nursery School 27.10.2020

Well, March Break started with a BANG this year! I was literally shook that day when it was announced that schools would close for two weeks after March Break. I was scared, what does this mean? How long will this last? I was nervous, what else will shut down? How will we get things? ... I was thankful, I was in a position that allowed me and my kids to stay safe at home. I felt blessed, I now get extra time with my kids that I didn’t have before. Throughout the last month my emotions have been on a roller coaster, as I am sure many of you have felt the same. There are so many unknowns about our current situation. And, how we will come out of this. I find that reminding myself that we are doing our part helps me feel grounded. We are staying home and staying safe. Please know I am thinking about all of Little Steps friends and families. And, as soon as it is safe to do so I can’t wait to welcome you all back!!! I hope you are all staying safe and healthy. Jamey.

Today we made a Group Mural. It was a successful activity!! We are learning about manners this week so before we started exploring with the materials we talked about sharing, and working together, as well as saying please and thank you to our peers!

We learned all about Space this week! One day we made Alien-Doh. By just adding some google eyes and pipe cleaners we got some pretty neat creations!

Play-doh is Fun!!! I’ve had many years of making play doh! The easiest and best recipie I’ve found is one that uses boiling water from a kettle. The stove top method can be rather difficult!!... Here’s the recipe: Best No-Cook Play Dough Recipe Ingredients: 1. 2 cups plain flour 2. 2 tablespoons vegetable oil 3. 1/2 cup salt. 4. 2 tablespoons cream of tartar. 5. 1 to 1.5 cups boiling water (adding in increments until it feels just right) 6. OPTIONAL: food colouring/sparkles/few drops glycerine Method: * Mix the flour, salt and cream of tartar in a large mixing bowl * Add food colouring and oil TO the boiling water then into the dry ingredients * Stir continuously until it becomes a sticky, combined dough * Allow it to cool down then take it out of the bowl and knead it vigorously for a couple of minutes until all of the stickiness has gone. * This is the most important part of the process, so keep at it until it’s the perfect consistency!* * If it remains a little sticky then add a touch more flour until just right
