We learned about Diwali today and one of our parents organized and assisted the children in making this gorgeous Rangoli! Such profound sensorial and cultural learning! Very meditative pouring the rice! Highly recommend this activity to other schools!

My motivation? Nurturing the deep connection between children, others and their natural world, while guiding them to materials that further make order of that same world. Respect and Wonder are in there too!

The children have learned a couple of words in Mandarin to greet my parents in law a good morning!

When you go exploring and you find a swan grooming... Grace, Wonder, Nature is the reward... What a Moment!

A presentation of the Stamp Game. These two children have been using the Golden Beads to complete both static and dynamic 4 digit addition playing The Bank Game. This initial presentation below, is is a first abstraction away from the Golden Bead materials (front of picture). They no longer reflect their size, but the number they represent is clearly marked on each Stamp. The place value is also reflected visually with colour One Unit is green, One Tenis blue, One Hundred is red, One Thousand is green. These colours repeat throughout the Montessori mathematic apparatus. The children build 4 digit numbers and add them together to find the sum. This is a lovely and much loved material. It is used for profound learning of all the operations ; Addition,followed by Multiplication, then Subtraction followed by Division.

Here, a newly reading child enjoys listening to a seasoned one. I see love of reading, determination and practice that has resulted in skill.Desire being created. Respect for accomplishment of another. Pride in one’s own capability. Learning and sharing the art of reading aloud. Community happening. Quiet joy.
